From the Back Cover

At age eight, Ben Carson was the class dummy. But he had a dream: He wanted to be a doctor. Ben's mother never gave up on him. "You weren't born to be a failure, Bennie. You can do it!" And she pushed him - turning off the TV and making him read at least two books a week. Ben's grades turned around. But then, in a deep rage, he almost stabbed one of his best friends. Would he ever become a doctor? This is the inspiring story of Ben Carson, who grew up in the inner city and went on to become one of America's most loved and highly respected doctors.

My daughter read "Gifted Hands" 3 years ago.
She has become a 4.0 GPA student. She is studying so hard that her teacher's asked us what was driving her? We told them that she read a book and just took it to heart. She is totally taken with becoming a Pediatric Neurosurgeon.
All our daughter talks about is (when) she becomes a Dr. and helps the children she will be fullfilled in what her life is meant to be on this earth.
It is quite something since we adopted her out of a ghetto type
environment 4 years ago. She had only been in school 46 days in her entire life of 9 years of age. We burned the midnight oil with her and she blossomed. "A mind and a child are a terrible thing to waste". Thank God that we got her and she is on her way.
Thank you , Dr. Carson, you have done a great thing and continue to be a great motivator to those who will listen.

The story of Ben Carson by Ben Carson is an account of the lifeof a young American who went through many obstacles to becomesuccessful. When Ben was a little boy, his parents split up and Ben is told that he will never see his father again. This is a hard time for Ben but not as hard as times to come. When Ben started school, he was teased because he wasn't as smart as everyone else was. But here's how " the class dummy" turned into an extremely talented brain surgeon. Ben is so talented that he has cured cases that other doctors said were impossible. Ben is what you call a neurosurgeon. A neurosurgeon is another name for a special brain surgeon. Ben has separated two Siamese twins that were connected at the head and shared a large artery that was essential to their health. He also helped a man with Von Hippel Lindau disease, a disease which causes many tumors to develop. He is also well known for his Hemispherectomies. A Hemispherectomy is the process of removing half of the brain. This process is only performed by the most talented neurosurgeons. Not only is Mr. Carson a very talented surgeon, he is a great Christian. First he didn't think anything was in store for him. But he was wrong. When he was eight years old he decided that he wanted to be a doctor, but he never really thought that it would happen. I had a great time reading this book and I hope that you take the time to read it. END

I read this book in which I had briefly heard the story of Dr. Ben Carson and was amazed at all of his accomplishments. This book was very inspiring and should be recommended reading for all youths and even adults to show them that their dreams can come true. Dr. Carson's story has really helped to inspire me for when times start getting tough that I should look to god for guidance.

I bought the book Gifted Hands by Dr Carson years ago. I loaned it to a friend of mine to read. Unfortunately she lost my book. Although this is not the edition I had, I am happy to have found a copy to replace it. I love my books and I am not happy when someone loses a book they have borrowed and then they make no offer to replace it. This vendor's description of the book's condition was spot on! Service and packaging great! I highly recommend them as a vendor.

Dr. Benjamin Carson is a gentleman! Wow, what resolve.................
He inspired me and I had permanent brain damage. It took five years of hard work to get back to being able to cook simple meals
and do laundry every week, get around my city without always being lost and read simple books. Oh and write using spell check
every other sentence! I thought I had done well!!! Forget me.............
This man has given ME hope to do MORE!!! I know I can.........and I will.

I have heard Dr. Carson speak on some talk shows. I sure hope he runs for office............
He has my vote!
