Some live albums from bands just give the band's best rendition of the songs exactly how they appear on the studio albums. Ben Folds has never done this in any part of his career, and it really shows in this album! Take Narcolepsy for example, a good song on Reinhold Messner. But on this album he does a 7+ minute version of it with out of this world piano and bass solos. The piano is good on his studio recordings, but he really jazzes it up when playing live, and adds to and changes songs so that you aren't just hearing the same old thing again. That's why I've seen him 5 times and about to see him a 6th! This album definitely does not disappoint!

I am a big fan of anything Ben Folds, but this CD is horrible, Ben does not sing well on it at all, at points the band sounds stoned or tired it is really hard to tell, but I would guess stoned on weed. I don't think the band listened too closely to this mess before they released it, it sounds novice and not like the pro band I know Ben Folds Five are.....or were. Stick to the originals and skip this CD. I am glad I did not buy it but rented it from Public Library, a huge dissapointment.

Great album by Ben and company. I like the live versions of many songs better than the studio e.g. Erase Me, Sky High, and Selfless Cold and Composed. These are great studio tunes, but Ben Folds Five manages to pull them off live and I like the sound.

Robert Sledge's bass never sounded better, and Ben and Darren are right in there too. Love to hear these guys live anytime - good selections from multiple venues.

Ben Folds Five is one of my favorite bands, hands down, so I knew I was going to enjoy this album before I ever heard it. However, the inclusions of "Uncle Walter" and "Tom and Mary" were particular highlights for me. Two of my favorite BF5 songs, and ones that you just didn't hear live all that often.

It's clear that the guys still have the same energy and humor that has always made their music (and their shows) so enjoyable. Ben is an amazing songwriter, and Darren and Robert help create the best sound for those songs.

Live albums are generally more for people who are already fans of a group, so I wouldn't recommend this to anyone before they listen to at least a couple studio albums by the band, but if you are already a fan, this is a must buy!

I love these guys and hope they make another album! I'm not going to kiss anyone's butt though. This live album was just okay for me. A couple tracks wandered or did that "Ben Folds is doing something cool" thing and I really just wanted to hear the songs they way they were intended when written, and played with live energy. Minus all that Ben Folds fluff. We get it, you can yell "Mother****er" into a mic and people will cheer. "Do It Anyway" on this album was dissapointing. That middle section was... eh. I'm totally good with improv of variation but when it adds to the song or isn't just for trying to get people to cheer to you saying a cuss word.

There are really special moments here musically as to be expected with these three guys. A lot of it had me singing along! Then came the end. I did not like the way the album ended, at all. I get the joke they were going for but it really left you feeling like there wasn't an end to what was basically a cobbled together live show. "Song For the Dumped" should have been an epic closer but it wasn't. So basically, support these guys and hope Ben sees the value in having Robert and Darren around, hope they'll make another album because this last one was stronger than Ben's solo efforts (except some gems here and there). Buy this album for the songs that they played really well and embrace those, expect a few moments that don't live up the the expectations and a really lame ending.
