Bigger Screen, More Space Means More Pixels, Better Detail
With a WQHD display, enjoy working with 77% more work space. Additionally, a WQHD provides 109 pixels per inch (PPI) allowing images to look more crisp than ever. Designed with CAD/CAM users in mind, the BL2710PT's Display Pilot Software provides a CAD/CAM mode that cares about the details. Whether it is handling a simple or complicated wireframe design, users will be able to better distinguish multiple line contours within their design. You will never miss a line again.
Advanced Hyper Viewing Angle (AHVA) Panel with Display Pilot Software
With the BenQ's advanced AHVA panel and 100% sRGB color gamut, every color is delivered with the finest precision in an ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle. And the Display Pilot Software detects the monitor's physical rotation and will automatically rotate the image in either a landscape or portrait orientation. With just one click, the software will partition your active windows providing an enhanced desktop work space.
Technology for Comfortable Viewing
ZeroFlicker technology reduces discomfort of long work days by virtually eliminating eye fatigue. Traditional monitor screens flick 200 times per second. Though undetectable to the naked eye, viewing discomfort is experienced with these traditional monitors. The ZeroFlicker technology eliminates flickering at all brightness levels and effectively provides long lasting comfortable viewing. An additional Reading Mode emulates traditional paper brightness, contrast ratio, and sharpness allowing digital documents to easily look like you are reading a book. Plus, the BL2710PT features an Eye Protect Sensor which, based on the ambient light levels detected by the monitor, will automatically adjust its brightness throughout the day. This enhances the display's clarity and your viewing comfort. An optional "Smart Reminder" icon appears to remind users to take a break after a specific amount of time.

Smart Design Choices for Better Workspaces
The BL2710PT's slim bezel allows for a smoother image to be displayed across multiple monitors. And with extensive monitor adjustments like height, tilt, pivot, and swivel, you can tailor your own unique working station that is best suited for your height and viewing preferences. The BL2710PT also features an integrated hub with 2 USB 3.0 ports—you can download a 10GB file in just 5 minutes. Two additional USB 2.0 connectors allow for keyboard and other device connectivity.

Excellent picture quality. Great for general use.
Minimal panel glow (AHVA panel).
No PWM = no LCD flickering.
Very light anti-glare coating. No fuzziness when viewing text.
Minimal back light bleeding. Light bleeding is very uniform.
Good variety of input connectors.
Very solid stand.
Cons:
2x 3.0 USB ports and 2x USB 2.0 ports. It's 2014. All USB ports should be 3.0.
Typical monitor speakers. Very low max volume. Very tinny.
Touch controls are very finicky. Tip of the finger sometimes do not register.
Auto brightness function is very gimmicky. Doesn't work too in my computing environment.
Typical cable management. There is a hole in the stand to funnel the cables and that's about it.
Color settings are OK out of the box for general use, but will need calibration for color accuracy.
Other than professionals that require color accuracy and gamers that require super fast refresh rate, this is a fantastic monitor. Watching movies, surfing the web, and playing most games is a joy on this monitor. Can't do any better for $500.
Naturally, the first thing I did was test this display using "Pixel Buddy". Found zero defects.
The BenQ BL2710PT came with a CD for setup and configuration with a Windows computer. Unnecessary when using Macintosh.
This display correctly responds to commands sent by the Mac OS. Most important to most users is sleep and wake up, which this display does correctly. I found that sound also goes through the Display Port cable. However, if you want to control the volume from your Mac, you need to connect the provided 3.5 mm audio cable.
You cannot adjust brightness using your Mac. I believe this can only be achieved using an Apple display. However the brightness is easy to set using buttons (well-placed) on the unit itself.
I have no idea why this display is referred to as a "Professional Creative Design Monitor" I suspect that's just marketing gobbledygook. We are using this display with iMovie HD and iDVD for movie editing purposes. It does this job flawlessly. This display is suitable for virtually any purpose as far as I can tell.
We connect this display to a Mac Mini using the cable below.

Pros:
The screen is beautiful and a lot easier on the eyes than the 27 inch iMac that sits next to it.
The stand is well built and goes together quickly and easily.
It comes with a boat load of cables most of which you are unlikely to need ( at least immediately ).
It comes with a 3 year warranty...nothing has gone wrong yet so no feedback on quality of service.
Cons ( minor )
The control buttons are soft touch buttons..They work fine, but they feel a little cheesy. It comes with a CD program called Pilot, Pilot allows you to control screen features without using the buttons.
There is a lozenge shaped display in the center bottom bezel..looks like a display of some kind? Appears to do nothing. From a distance looks like a place that a logo would be displayed..but is blank.
Conclusion:
Overall very nice, I would not hesitate to buy another.
Of the two i bought, one had slightly more backlight bleed in the lower right. Its not significant (seen way worse) and wasnt bad enough to warrant exchanging. Others online have reported similar bleed issues in the same spot. Thats probably my only negative, but again, its so minor to not even be noticeable unless you're specifically looking for it, on a dark background, in a dark room.

Peccato...
Beautiful color reproduction, narrow bezel and great price. I know some folks had trouble with the touch sensitive buttons, but I was mezmorized by how beautifully they work when i got the monitor. I have a darker office so with the black bezel you cannot see anything and as your hand approaches the buttons they all light up...nice!
In any case, once you have it setup, chances are you will not play with the buttons too much and you will appreciate that they are not always lit up.
