I got this monitor the other day after deciding I wanted something easy, simple, cheap, but solid and meant for what I need. And I was a bit weary at the start, when something says it has 1ms response GTG it makes you think "impossible", and while I'm not sure if it's gone from 450ms on my big screen to 1ms on this BenQ monitor, it sure does feel like it's a brand new system, no joke. Now I'm coming from a big screen Vizio that had so much processing video and audio via HDMI my online record was like 33% wins, basically winning 1 for every 2 losses.... It was nearly impossible to play defense on the Vizio because of lag, as well as getting players shot timing release correct being nearly impossible online.
The box came quick, score, and I was really impressed with the packaging and actual monitor itself. At this price I felt it would be cheap/flimsy plastic or something, but its a well constructed monitor. It's got a great base, a stand that snaps into the base and then the monitor slips right on top of that, all really secure. The buttons on the side are very intuitive and easy to use, being able to set and save your gaming profile or your PC profile (monitor settings). It also came with a solid RGB cord as well as a nice DVI cord as well. So I put it together and was ready to go, already impressed with what I had bought.
I turned on my 360 with HDMI and launched the system on...... and WOW. Seriously. The games and operating system run so much faster than I ever realized on the 360, and the picture is very very clear and colorful and sharp. My first game I played I was literally laughing loud, realizing that I just dropped 400ms in lag give or take, maybe more. It feels instantaneous, and the game plays so fluid no. NBA 2K14 is a complex and fast, competitive game and being able to use dribble moves now without worrying about running into an opponent on some weird random animation is just amazing. I have some friends that are like superfreaks on this game who will play me and beat me by 20 at the minimum always in the past. 3 of those guys I've played since and either beat by a few points or barely lost... all a result of the amazing monitor doing what it's supposed to do.
Even with HDMI video and audio at 1080p it runs flawlessly, and I've become this defensive stopper the past 3 days and I am in love with this monitor forever now. 6 minute quarters online, I am shooting about 10% better overall (from 40% to 50%+), as you can use the shot stick to create the spin shot and release the stick when the player flashes for 0.1 seconds, and I can actually use that function now, working perfectly! I used to be awful at free throws (like 65% bad average) and now I am hitting every FT basically. I always used to get out-rebounded because my timing was always off and what I understand now is it was always late jumping. Right when I played my first game I was actually doing really bad in the 1st quarter because everything is so extremely responsive and amazing. I was hopping for rebounds like 1-2 seconds early now, as it actually hops each time you tap Y.
But by the 2nd half I was dominating the computer on the hardest level, and doing combo dribble moves combined with change of pace/speed I feel like I'm in full control of the guy and as a result I am getting way more dribble drives that finish with dunks, and running the fast break is just crisper. Everything is so responsive, I just can't say that enough.
Then opened up TitanFall and my Xbox One and to my surprise I wasn't as bad as the big HDTV made me think I was, especially with the smart pisol (I'm not a huge FPS guy but most sports games have become so advanced that one tap of a trigger or button can result in getting dunked on. But all the sudden, I load the game (having not played it for a month or so) and it felt like a solid game actually with beautiful graphics and the ability to jump and fire and run, without weird lag. My first match was ok, adjusting, but no joke my second match online was the best game I'd ever played on it totally destroying people with that smart pistol auto aim thing. It's no different than what I did before on the other TV, it's just responsive so as a result I've greatly improved on it.
For console gaming, this gen and next gen, this monitor is great. I like to keep things simple, since most all games run at 720p or 1080p now and at 60hz/60 frames per second. The underrated part of this monitor is the picture quality. I was expecting stuff to sorta be washed out like RGB Xbox 360 Cord/Output that use to run nice on monitors, but was really greyish and washed out. Not this baby. It seems like the image is printed on the screen its so clear, crisp, beautiful range of colors, and with no slow down. I can't believe I didn't find out about this monitor a year ago, haha.
If you have a Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, or PS4 and you are playing on a big screen with lag (or something with lag that's just too obvious and can not get over the difference. If you already use a monitor for console gaming then it won't be a huge different probably, but if you are using a LED HDTV that's bigger than 32"/37" (especially the 40-60" range) and experience a lot of issues and input lag for gaming on your consoles, this is the perfect answer.
Speakers are meh, but it has a line in as well as a headphone/line out which is nice. That's the only weakness, weak speakers, haha. I haven't really tested it on PC much, though I hooked it up to my laptop via RGB (not DVI the higher quality) and set the desktop on the BenQ to 1920 X 1080 as that's its native resolution. It looks beautiful, and I watched the movie "Gravity" on it (a blu ray) and I felt like I was watching it on a high end amazing brand TV. For movies you want to set it to "MOvie" setting and turn on some of the picture features or raise the black equalizer and stuff, but 24'' is a lot bigger than I was thinking and it was superb.
The monitor does exactly what you think it does and I'm just another satisfied customer. I recommend this to anyone looking for a gaming monitor for their console, last gen or next gen... the picture is beautiful with colors and crisp smooth images, like no blur, great contrast, and lightning fast response time that I still can't get over!
It's already stepped up my game, it's amazing when you realize you've spent almost a year playing with 1.0 - 2.0 full seconds of input lag when playing online, making things insane (on a cheap old Vizio 47"). This thing could of cost $280 and I'd be satisfied.
5/5
*I would like to begin by stating that I am a 35 y/o lifelong gamer who is hyper-sensitive to latency fluctuations. This is most-likely due to
the countless amount of hrs that I have spent gaming on superior-performing CRT-tech displays.*
-----
**Monitor : BENQ RL2455HM**
**Source : 1080p/60**
**Display mode : FULL**
**HDMI RGB PC Range : 16-235 (Standard / Limited)**
* BLACK LEVEL : 16-235 range allows monitor to display uncrushed blacks without the use of the Black Equalizer. This will provide a fuller image
on-screen that looks less two-dimensional which, not only looks better but, should enhance eye-tracking. Response time performance, for pixel
transitioning, seems to be, consistently, faster and more stable and/or uniform after calibrating monitor black-level to, slightly, above
reference-black recommendation / and white-level to, slightly, below reference-white. This will help to ensure that the monitor is, mainly,
operating within the grey-to-grey range that the manufacturer has used to measure the response-time rating. This will help to ensure that
display-latency does not spike beyond the 1st frame (@60hz).
* ADVANCED MOTION ACCELERATION (AMA) : I've tested PREMIUM vs HIGH vs OFF, extensively, over the years. Because of this, I feel confident that I
could recommend that most players use AMA at the factory-default setting of HIGH.
*AMA is not for everyone and if you fall into this category then the, obvious, selection, for you, would be to have AMA set to OFF.*
*Using the AMA HIGH setting will introduced a negligible amount of processing latency vs using AMA OFF. I say 'negligible' because of what AMA
HIGH does to improve pixel transitioning will reduce the, actual, overall latency and the perceived latency that is, typically, associated with
the, resulting, motion-blur that slow pixel response times generate.*
*Premium AMA has the potential to respond faster but at the cost of higher inaccuracies with obvious on-screen artifacting. I have dealt with
some rather unpleasant latency/frame-timing fluctuations that have lead to feelings of controller-inconsistencies while using the Premium AMA
that I have never experienced with it set to HIGH (and I have used it more than one should, tbh). Premium AMA will feel better, at first use,
but, inevitably, will not be able to hide its shortcomings over the long-haul. Basically, the monitor doesn't handle Premium well-enough to
consider it an upgrade. The overall result, most-certainly, looks & feels like a degrade in performance that is not worth the jump from HIGH
AMA.*
*This will boil down to personal preference, however, I would highly-recommend that one treats AMA-HIGH as AMA "ON" and disregards AMA-Premium,
altogether, leaving you with two choices : AMA-HIGH[ON] -or- AMA-OFF.*

The finishing touch : purchase a pair of MAXX HD sunglasses with the original Amber HD lense and wear them while you game. I do and, not only does it keep my eyes comfortable but it enhances contrast ratio and helps make framerate appear smoother. Also, artifacts from AMA blend better with the image on-screen while looking through these. This completes the overall experience. If you game on this monitor with these settings while gaming with MAXX HD lenses then you will share the exact same user-experience as me.
(also, RTS2 with black eq on looks pretty neat through these lenses for games such as DOOM (2016)

ORIGINAL REVIEW
---------------------------
Signal-processing delay & on-screen motion are the two major contributing factors that will alter our perception of latency and wheter or not
we will feel 'connected' to our gaming inputs vs. what is happening on-screen -not to mention color-accuracy, brightness & contrast ratio.
LCD-panels have yet to best CRT-monitors and, most-likely, never will.
Moving on, I will attest to the fact that these BenQ LCD-panels have been designed with the competitive-gamer in mind & hardware-performance
should satisfy the majority of hardcore & casual gamers.
*Display latency and on-screen motion rivals the old-school CRTs (picture tube).
-----
Pre-XB1/PS4, my preferred gaming-display was a 480I 28in 4:3 true-analog Sony CRT Monitor -which produced a clean & bright image with,
virtually, undetectable nanoseconds of display latency.. Unfortunately, the XB1 / PS4 console releases, essentially, forced many CRT-
enthusiasts to migrate to these inferior LCD-display panels. Alternatively, digital-to-analog converters or hunting down and acquiring a used
HD-CRT would be the only other, and less practical, options.
I had decided to migrate to my 55" Sony Bravia (Game mode enabled). Picture-output was above-average, however, screen-size (for gaming) &
perceived latency was far from optimal. I then began to shop around for an LCD-panel that would suit my needs as a competitive-gamer. After
several weeks, I had decided to purchase the BenQ RL2455HM LCD Gaming Monitor. Honestly, I figured that I would be sacrificing picture-
quality in exchange for higher-performance. Surprisingly, I was wrong.
I had noticed that many reviewers will complain about this monitor's color accuracy. this monitor gives you full control over the RED GREEN &
BLUE (each has its own intensity slider from 1 to 100 -affects brightness) Dialing in the 'perect' settings takes a reasonable amount of time
& effort, however, I will be providing a few suggested-setups that may be used as a reference-point in order to expidite the calibration-
process, for you.
I have provided the, current, display settings that I use for multiplayer gaming, below.
Try these settings for gaming (DVI / HDMI)
-----
The following low-latency gaming settings are based off of the 'RTS 1' mode using Full-RGB Color Output.
*You must begin calibrating by, first, selecting the 'RTS 1' prior to altering the provided display settings:
-----
Picture Mode :: RTS 1
Brightness :: 71
Contrast :: 43
Sharpness :: 1
Black EQ :: 0 -OFF
Color Temp :: USER : R->98 : G->92 : B->95 (Software Calibrated WARM User Profile)
AMA :: High -Sends extra voltage to the pixels in order to produce a smoother & more CRT-like on-screen motion (Pixel-Overclocking)
* -The side-effect is a lighter or darker outline on trailing edge of darker objects over lighter backgrounds (Pixel-Overshoot).
* -Typically, the less-aggressive 'AMA : High' setting would be the best choice regarding 'screen-motion vs. picture-quality'.
*((AMA :: Premium -slightly faster at the cost of more-noticeable overshoot / ghosting - this ))*
* -If you choose to use Premium then try using R->97 : G->84 : B->87 to help mitigate this, to some degree
Instant Mode :: ON (In other wods : Game-Mode - Enabled)
* -The LCD-panel's quickest signal processing-method
Dynamic Contrast :: 0 -OFF
RGB PC Range :: 0-255 (Must, also, set color output on gaming console or PC to 'FULL-RGB' reference levels)
Display Mode :: FULL
**User Color Temp Explanation**
(I use warm color-tone settings because these, generally, produce a deep & natural-looking image while, also, reducing eye-strain).
The '97-84-87' user setting is, actually, a personal favorite (Especially for BATTLEFIELD 1)
The '97-87-92' setting looks nice, also.
Adjust your Brightness & Contrast settings around these values & you should be good to go.

Update: 05/06/17
has an occasional "purple screen" upon startup and will remain like that until I turn the monitor off and back on. Otherwise it has been a good monitor and the response time is nice. Decent colours for a TN panel, but still not at IPS levels. So definitely don't do work that relies on colour accuracy on this monitor. Some other BenQ monitors have failed after the purple screen as noted by other reviewers. Hoping this doesn't happen to mine too soon as I'm really hoping not to have to get a new monitor in the near future as I've barely had this one a year.
If the physical appearance of your monitor is important to you, note that this one has a 1 inch bevel, and is made of matte black plastic. This monitor looks like it is made for function and performance, not to look shiny on an expensive desk.
