5.0 out of 5 stars ZA13 compared to Model O
By Emily Barba on September 14, 2020
The zowie za13 is without a doubt the best mouse I have ever bought and used. The quality is insanely good and the sensor on this thing is so accurate. The clicks are so smooth and clean. Comparing this thing to the model O is like comparing a Honda Civic to a Lamborghini. The model O just feels cheap and brittle in the hand, the za13 is definitely a lot smaller but the hump make sir feel amazing. Also the za13 weighs about 25 grams more than the model o. I prefer the mouse being heavier, I think it helps me have better aim and more stable aim. I always thought the lighter the mouse the better the aim but I was definitely wrong. Definitely give this mouse a try, it is 100% worth it

4.0 out of 5 stars Like a FK2 but for palm grip
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 17, 2018
The ZA12 shares many of the characteristics that other Zowie mice do, but with a high-profile rear/palm area. I am personally not a fan of this shape at all, and much prefer the FK2 and the EC2-A over the ZA12, but can see why others may like its shape if they are palm grip users. Otherwise, I see no reason to go for it over one of the others.

Pros:
- Excellent sensor (3310)
- Ambidextrous, high profile rear, suitable for those wishing for a FK2 but more suited for palm grip.
- Lightweight: ZA11: 90g, ZA12: 85g, ZA13: 80g.
- Choice of size between ZA11, ZA12, and ZA13.
- Good cable: Non braided, quite flexible, and slides well, but not the best on the market. (e.g. Finalmouse Ultralight Phantom)
- Glides extremely smoothly: The mouse's skates are large and last forever. Zowie even include a set of replacement skates in the box. Combined with the mice's low weight, they make it glide extremely well.
- Plug and play: No software is needed, which is ideal for LAN environments. Polling rate can be adjusted by holding in certain buttons whilst plugging the mouse in (though the vast majority of people should be fine leaving it its default of 1000Hz) and DPI can be switched in increments of 400, 800, 1600, 3200 by pushing a button on the underside. The button is out of the way making it impossible to accidentally press, but making on the fly DPI changes impossible (though CS:GO players should never use that). There is an LED on the underside indicating the DPI setting (red, purple, blue, green respectively). Only one set of side buttons (left or right) can be used at once, which is changed in a similar fashion to the polling rate. Instructions are provided in the manual.
- Side buttons: Unlike those of the Zowie EC1-A and EC2-A, those of the FK2 are very tactile and responsive, requiring very little travel before actuation.
- Scroll wheel: unlike that of the EC1-A and EC2-A, the ZA12's scroll wheel has the perfect amount of resistance, making it comfortable to use when browsing the web, whilst still having well defined steps.

Cons:
- Primary & Secondary Buttons: Zowie uses Huano switches rather than Omron for their primary and secondary buttons, which are 'tighter' and 'heavier', but this is not of concern in CS:GO, as this game doesn't involve rapid clicking for extended periods of time. My Razer Deathadder Chroma uses Omron switches, and the difference between them is quite noticeable. This is the main reason why I consider Zowie mice to be poorly suited for MOBA games such as LoL which require constant rapid clicking. Note that Zowie tried switching to Omron switches in 2016 but encountered problems with clicks registering, so issued a product recall and switched back to Huano switches.
- Materials used: the plastic used feels neither particularly premium nor cheap, but isn't commensurate with the price of the mouse. It also picks up residue such as sweat rather easily and visibly, turning the matte black finish slightly glossy. This doesn't impact in game performance, but doesn't look very nice.

In conclusion, this is a no thrills mouse that forgoes flashy lights and extensive features for a simple competitive FPS mouse. I'd suggest that most people get the FK2 or the EC2-A, but the ZA12 may suit some very well. I'd also consider purchasing a mouse used rather than new to save a good amount of money, seeing as mice work just as well used as new.

4.0 out of 5 stars A SOLID BUY IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH......
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 14, 2018
This is priced well in the market but is it still worth the money, well below will hopefully give me some guidance with my thoughts. If you want a full detailed review check out my bio for my YouTube Channel where I’ve done an in-depth review

DESIGN - It’s been created by Zowie who is the gaming arm for BenQ. The mouse is built from a smooth plastic which does attract fingerprints. If you have OCD then this might not be the one for you. The body is ridged and has no flex or rattles. Overall the product is engineered well.

DESIGN/SHAPE - This is an ambidextrous mouse and has buttons on both sides to suit both. It’s a high profile mouse with an arched rear, though is shaped like a traditional mouse with nothing outrageous going on. The mouse has no RGB or lighting but does have two logos. One is the Zowie which is located o on the rear and the other BenQ in a subtle black on the left side of the mouse. The mouse has two large pads for gliding and is suited to all grip styles. The sides although having no texture or rubber allow due to the angle a decent grip on the mouse even with the smooth coating applied.

PERFORMANCE - The shell houses the 3310 optical sensors which have been around for a while and is proven to be reliable. The mouse performed well on both a cloth surface and hard but it didn’t work well on a desk, therefore, I would recommend a mouse pad to accompany this. The mouse has four Dpi settings 400/800/1600/3200 which are controlled by a button located on the bottom which changes colour to reflect that setting. Polling rate can also be changed to 125/500/1000.

SIZE – The ZA series has three sizes the ZA13 which is small 120x62x38, ZA12 medium 124x64x39 and ZA11 large 128x67x40. When measured the ZA11 came in as expected with no surprises.

WEIGHT – The ZA series has three weights the ZA13 80g, ZA12 85g and ZA11 90g. The weight here is different in each but the ZA11 that I tested came in at 91g with a little bit of cable so weighed as expected.

BUTTONS – These feel great with a nice short press and no pre-travel on the left & right buttons. The side ones are good with some travel but nothing too major and also provided nice feedback. The scroll wheel though was a disappointment for me with it feeling gritty when scrolling and long transitions between notches. This for me is the weak point. During gaming, this would be acceptable but if you want to also surf the net then there are better around.

CONNECTIVITY – Is provided by a 2m rubber coated cable. The cable is one of the most flexible on the market that is provided as standard and made the mouse feel unrestricted without any bungee insight.

SOFTWARE – The mouse doesn’t come with any software and is controlled by holding down button combinations while you plug in the mouse. The combinations are listed in the manual or online.

IN THE BOX - The box includes a manual, some packaging and some replacement Skatez which was awesome.

CONCLUSION – If you are in the market for a reasonable price eSports mouse that you can depend on then this is one to certainly look at. It provides reliable tracking, fast clicks and unrestricted movement with its outstanding cable. The mouse is only let down by a poor scroll wheel which hopefully can be improved on.
