Top customer reviews
As for wear I can't really say if the pad itself gets slower or if it just wears down mouse feet slightly quicker to make it feel like it gets slower - but after several days of usage I can say the glide did slow down a bit but it's not a problem because it got no 'drag' effect, I can easily make adjustments with the mouse on it and will continue to use it because I prefer this over more common cloth pads where they slow down your movements much more
On the surface I see a few spots I believe this is teflon from the mouse feet, cleaning it off should be nothing more than a microfiber cloth damped with lukewarm water and a gentle scrub over the surface with an air dry. Anyway that's basically all, now onto why it's 4 stars instead of 5.. pretty simple; the mouse pad isn't flat because it's not shipped flat. The material used doesn't 'go flat' like normal cloth or other textures, so when rolled it stays rolled alongside the edges - weight can help but it won't fix the problem.. worst part is if you counter-roll (roll in the opposite direction) too much you will create ripples in the mousepad which will affect glide and can be felt with both finger and mouse glide.. so do not counter-roll too many times or you will damage the pad
I say if you can get over the side not being completely flat and seeking for something faster than your traditional cloth but slower than full polymer plastic/glass/aluminum then this should be for you. Please note I do not recommend this mousepad for anyone who plays high sensitivity and also if your mouse is super light (ie 90g or lighter) then you also may not like this mousepad and find your mouse to be 'not controllable' It's more of a learning curve than standard cloth but if you stick with it these type of pads are actually better because you can make corrections faster which is always better.. however some people don't have the dexterity, will experience wrist pain, or simple don't have the time to game for so long that they can control such a fast glide. So unless you specifically know what you want you should avoid this one; also if you can't stand a not fully flat mouse pad than look elsewhere.. it's unacceptable for ZOWIE to even have this thing ship out of production with it not being flat... just ship the damn thing flat like artisan no end-consumer seeking high end gaming products gives a whoot if the shipping is $2-5 more.. people who complain about that crap aren't looking to buy expensive mouse pads in the first place
So hope you found this review helpful, hope zowie found this review helpful, and game on
This pad should not be packaged rolled up like this. I spent the last 3 weeks trying to flatten it out, but no luck. There's a 3 inch perimeter "bubble" around the entire mouse pad. And on one side, the bubble is nearly 4 inches in. Even with my mouse resting on top of this bubble, it still wiggles if I push down around the mouse.
It's too bad, cause I like the feel and speed of it...in the middle of the pad. But if you get one of these, try to flatten it for about a week. If it's not flattening by then, just return it. Like I say, I've been trying for 3 weeks to flatten it and it's still really bad. I've been leaving it rolled opposite overnight and I've tried heavy books, but nothing is working.
Please see other reviews as well for reports of this problem. I also included a video showing the issue.
The edging on it is a nice rounded stitching that makes it extremely comfortable to rest your wrist on, unlike some other brands that just have the exposed foam edge.
The base (new zowie foam base) took a day or two to truly lay flat, but after that it has not been an issue at all.
The only downside is that they put a little tag with their logo on it at the corner of the mousepad which could potentially get in the way, although it never has for me personally.
If you are thinking about getting this mousepad over a similar brand, I would not hesitate to get it.
