I already knew! It was The Duchess' book. But what I didn't know was: time I opened the box, the Duchess herself! was going to rise up and soar from out of it! With her delicately scripted, precious book in hand. That has never happened to me before with just a delivery. Only for The Duchess, to take me by the hand, lead me into my living room, pour a cup of hot herbal tea for me; then arm around my shoulder, tenderly leaf through one page at a time. As she lovingly explains her heart's choice of each touching illustration.
While wiping tears of joy from my eyes. As the pain in my heart from decades of being stalked melted. Even my eyes stopped burning!
"Girl friend! you just had baby Lilibet," I said: "What in the world, are you doing up here in my living room?" Does Harry know your are out and about so soon. Is he okay with this?" As she explains: "It's alright. This is both of our callings." As she continues to comfort me with her book. Sure enough Harry and Little Prince Archie are on my patio. Swinging from a tree-swing that Harry created. Were'd he get the tree-swing from? Until little Archie gets tired, and the peaceful smile of a loved toddler envelopes his little face, he and Papa Harry sits on "The Bench" under my Momma T's Cherry tree; where they both fall asleep.
Disclaimer! That was where the book "The Bench" its author, Duchess Meghan Markle and her entire family took me. And that was just the beginning: The touch of my own baby girl's tender fingers at three and now she's 42. The hug of my baby boy at two and now he's 38 ... forgotten precious moments. All flooding my heart at the very first sight of: H+A, the handwritten hidden treasure (better than discovering a Golden Sticker in a Willie Wonka chocolate candy bar) on the actual book, hidden under the front jacket. All that! And I haven't even read it yet.
You absolutely must! have this healing power of love, in your and your loved ones lives. Just be ready for, as soaring with a mother eagle, all of the thermals that your unique journey with it, will rise you to. Just make sure you have some Kleenex ready for all the tears of joy that will flow freely! Simply because...
The Bench, is not just for kids. If you have ever been hurt and you have not been able to heal yet, this Mother's Love in the form of the "Written Word," will ignite and stir the embers in your heart. Which, you've never known such feeling of before. The name of the book is: The Bench. The name of the writer is: Duchess Meghan Markle. The personification of excellence whom, this book has vindicated to be: Instead of ... just another socialite, a universal social worker: The personification of: LOVE CONQUERS ALL!
This evening, after I come home from mailing off my expose to the proper authority figures, and only then, will I prepare the healing ritual that the reading of The Bench will be the center piece of. Then I will steep some hot herbal tea in my China teacups. While treating myself to some homemade chocolate. Only then, with NOW lavender essential oils saturating the air, will I deem the ambiance to be perfect enough, and moment sacred enough, to curl up on my couch, under my painted moonlit; to read this universal gift of love from the universal Social Worker: Duchess Meghan Markle. Who has truly conquered the world.
Of course before I fall asleep, I will capture the beginning of this universal superlative experience of a Mother's Love as seen through another mother's eyes and heart, in my journal. You simply cannot miss out on a journey of this grandeur! You can't !
P.S Remember Meghan. Don't Throw a Pearl Before a Swine ... What's Holy Before Dogs! This is a Pearl!

P.S Remember Meghan. Don't Throw a Pearl Before a Swine ... What's Holy Before Dogs! This is a Pearl!
“The Bench” written by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex is as sweet as it is heartfelt. A quietly profound poem of the love between a father and his son through the lens of a loving mother’s eyes brought to life by the magnificent illustrations of talented artist Christian Robinson. Their combined efforts form a wonderful literary landscape of affection and unadulterated acceptance much needed in the world today.
For those saying this book is not for kids? You would be correct. However you would also be foolish and shortsighted because it is clearly not written to be one. Rather it is meant to be a joint experience, something to be read with your child/children on your lap and be a catalyst for a conversation about family, acceptance, love, and the many different forms such bonds between a father and son can take. It is a foundational life lesson to aid in illustrating what kindness is, what real love looks like, and the many ways a father feels about his son presented in tiny literary nuggets any child can absorb and appreciate in their own unique way. It is far more than a “kid’s book”, it is a conversational love language that introduces concepts such as inclusiveness, equity, and diversity. And I found it just plain beautiful.
I recognize why people are bashing this book, to my eyes it has nothing to do with the book itself but rather their view on who they think the author is. It is a sad reflection on society at large, the social media/tabloid fueled negativity and toxicity that inflames and poisons everything it touches. Very little of it I feel is actually based on real interaction or firsthand knowledge. It’s the product of our modern click-bait world; a world where authenticity is cast out in favor of sensationalism and caricature. A world where individuals who have never met the author feel justified in being her judge, jury, and the executioner of her character because of what they’ve read and in turn think they know. When the reality is, unless you live in her home, partake in her day-to-day life, you don’t know a damn thing.
Another reality, this book is pure of heart and just plain lovely and I for one applaud it…

UPDATE - my 3 year old nephew absolutely loves this book but not for the story but for all the benches in it. He loves looking at the inside cover as there are lots of different benches which he happily describes to us. He loves looking at the benches on each page and is pleased to note that there is a daddy and his little boy on each of them. Sadly my little nephew can't find his own black bench in the book. The Bench book is away to bed with him and his dinosaurs tonight. I truly hope that this book helps Christian Robinson with his career in illustrating. My older nieces and nephews have found the story confusing and the words don't make sense. But this little boy loves it for its beautiful illustrations.

I loved the Poetry and simplicity of the message which made it deeper and more sincere. The artwork is beautiful and very accessible for children to appreciate especially. I liked the inclusiveness of all families represented in the pictures. I was impressed at the size of the book and the quality of the production. I hope Meghan does another book for mother's day with Lili. Can't wait to see that one and buy it !
Duchess of Sussex, father and son, well done, children.
