The lift showed up as promised and fortunately I had a friend with a forklift that came to unload it from the freight truck. Assembly was slow and methodical since my life would be hanging in the future on the quality of my assembly here. Read and follow the directions and you can do this alone in a couple days without stress. I've been using it constantly for 2 years now and can't imagine not having it. It's pretty much the best thing you can put in your shop if you have the room for it. Mine measures 12' 1/2" in height. When I get to build my man cave at home I will be ordering 2 more of these along with at least one of their 4 post lifts.
I know how hard it is to pull the trigger on a large purchase like this from a mail order place but after this being my largest Amazon purchase up to that time I have no reservations anymore. Buy with confidence, you won't regret it.
Shipping is free. If you live in an area that a 53 foot semi can get to. You will need a way to unload this heavy lift from the back of a closed trailer. There are other options.
I had it shipped to a terminal close by. I requested a carrier. ASE Deals. You can email. I spoke with Brian Lockhart who arranged the shipper. I rented a truck from Home Depot. Now this truck has an 8 foot bed so consider how far you need to travel. You will need straps, and pallet to support the lift on bed of the truck. The shipping company called, I went, they loaded it on truck, gave me a pallet...I strapped the lift down and left.
When you get to your garage you need a way to get lift off the truck. I used an engine lift and overhead chain lift which I got from Harbor Freight for 40 dollars. I used straps from there also. 6400 pound 6 foot long. Hoisted both ends of lift, drove truck out from under lift. Set lift on floor and returned truck.
This truck (F250) was actually too small for this job. A trailer over 12 feet long would be better if you are traveling more than a few miles. Or a flat bed truck. The shipping weight is actually 1778 pounds according to freight company. The crated lift measures 12 feet, 6-1/2 inches measured with tape rule. Width is about 22 and 24 inches, but there are boxes added and pump box adds about 12 inches at that point.
I mention this because some are hesitant to order due to delivery problems depending on locations.
My lift shipped from CA, stopping at Chicago and PA. From PA it shipped to MA. It took 11 work days to arrive. It arrived in great shape. I expected some damage due to the long route and probable moving from truck to truck.
Most people will have a good experience getting this lift. It is well packed, having a heavy steel frame on each end that is bolted to lift. These act as protection for the lift and allow freight companies to raise lift from end rather than sides using fork lift.
This was my experience. I thought about how to do it and it worked in my case. The weakest link was the truck. But it did okay. I drove slower and avoided pot holes. I like the lift and would buy again.
No problems with damage. Wish you the same. Good luck.
With all that being said, bendpak gives great customer support. The lift works well with vehicles it can actually lift (pretty much trucks/suv's ONLY). The down side is everything listed above, and for me 3k right down the toilet.
Bendpak will give you replacement Low Profile arms, for a small fee of 1500 bucks!!! What a joke, I am just going to purchase another light duty lift for an extra 200 bucks.
