"Beneath the Mimosa Tree" is a lovely, well-written and well-edited story of childhood sweethearts, Annabelle Marco and Michael Contelli. The story's true-to-life plot flows smoothly to the book's conclusion, and "Beneath the Mimosa Tree" is a story to read and cherish.

From the Author

THANK YOU:  Thank you to Readers Favorite! BENEATH THE MIMOSA TREE received the Bronze Award for Contemporary Fiction, 2012. I'm honored...

Dear Readers,

Letters play an important part in "Beneath the Mimosa Tree," so I thought I would write one in the form of a message here to you, prospective readers, to say thank you for considering reading my book.

This novel started as a short story, and with the encouragement from one of my professors who suggested I take it from the short story form to a novel many years ago, I decided to tackle the project. It was written with much love, commitment, and energy, as this is a story I'd wanted to create for many, many years.

It was an absolute pleasure delving into the worlds of Michael and Annabelle, and I hope you enjoy getting to know them as much I enjoyed creating them and their story.

With gratitude,
Stephanie

From the first paragraph to the final sentence, this book captivated my interest. I loved the characters, the storyline, and the masterful way that the author, Stephanie Verni, told the story. As I read the novel, I felt like I could be right there in the house next door while Annabelle and Michael began their courtship. The descriptions of Annapolis and Baltimore were painted perfectly. I wish there was a sequel because I enjoyed this book so much and I'm ready for more!Beneath the Mimosa Tree: A Novel

What a fabulous book! I am typically a pretty fast reader, but I loved this story so much I didn't want it to end. The characters were so real and it was so easy to relate to all of the emotions. I loved the ending and loved the special touch of Vivi! I can't wait for the next novel from Ms. Verni.

I don't know where to start with "Beneath the Mimosa Tree." As a male college student, this was the first book I've read in years outside the classroom, purely for pleasure. Admittedly, I got about half-way through and I put the book down for a couple of weeks because life was a little busy. But then, as I was having lunch earlier this week on a beautiful day in Manhattan, I decided I was going to finish BTMT.

I made the right decision and in the last 3 or 4 days, I finished the second-half of the book. I found myself captivated with the story and its multiple moving parts, especially the difference of tone between Michael and Annabelle. The back-and-forth of the story kept me so interested that I finished the book latter half in 2 train rides and lunch breaks. And I don't want to give away the ending, but trust me, I visualized the last ~20 or so pages of the book as if it were straight in a movie.

I'm not a book expert... especially not in this genre, but I connected with this book on a couple levels as not only am I an Italian-American from New York (who has experienced the large holiday gatherings and knows what a real cannoli tastes like) but I'm also a sucker for a great story!

I found this novel captivating from beginning to end. Stephanie Verni creatively portrays a beautiful story of two young people's love and its evolution in "Beneath the Mimosa Tree". The story is written through the eyes of the two main characters, Michael and Annabelle. Verni imaginatively flips from one character to the other, leaving the reader always wanting more. She also paints the backdrop, predominantly Annapolis, Maryland; but also London and New York vividly. I almost felt as if I was with the characters as the story unfolded. All in all, it was a great feel good book, perfect read for a vacation.

Wow, this book couldn't have been published at a better time. Being recently engaged, it reflects the emotions I feel towards my fiancé. I felt like these characters were real people and I could feel their emotions the entire time. I'm not a reader, it's just not a top priority but I do enjoy it. This book I finished in 2 sittings. I was captivated with the writing style, the language and how easy it was to keep up with the different characters and time changes. I couldn't be more proud of Stephanie and her accomplishments. You did it! An 'A' in my book for sure!

Stephanie Verni has created a wonderful story of love, life decisions, friendship, and forgiveness with her beautifully written book "Beneath the Mimosa Tree". This is a story we can all relate to in some way and I feel Stephanie did a tremendous job of creating two characters that were real and vulnerable. I also loved the bonds of friendship with the supporting characters and how they each supported their friend through life no matter what. I was captivated from page one!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. While traveling through the lives of Annabelle and Michael, Verni takes you on a journey through beautiful Annapolis, MD with stops in New York and London. Verni's characters immediately come to life on the pages and I found myself not wanting it to end. I believe everyone will identify with this touching story of family, friends, love, loss....and life lessons learned as we grow up.

A beautifully written story about life, love, regret and forgiveness. I brought this book on vacation and was hooked from the beginning. I loved the way the author developed the characters -- I felt like I knew them and could relate to what they were feeling. My daughter read it after me and loved it so much she is reading it again! I was so sorry to see the book end and I hope we see more from Stephanie Verni in the future. Great for summer. Great for a book club. Just plain great in every way.
