Another feature of the stories is the fact that the characters are hard working people with a focus on family and doing good acts for each other. Although there are a few of those typical mean personalities that are found in every town but they are kept in check by the good people. The author is a very talented writer. The story has a smooth flow and covers every perspective to bring the different situations together. Very enjoyable and relaxing reading.
It makes me sad, because I enjoyed the characters and there was a lot of potential to the story, but everything just came together in the story without any character growth or issues, even though it definitely had plenty of opportunities to do so.
For example, the heroine is super insecure and is convinced the hero is in love with her best friend. Conflict. Except after the first road bumb, the friend sits them both down and they clear it up and they're engaged. You think that the story is about the two of them getting together, but that happens within the first half of the book. Then you think it might be about the city girl heroine getting used to the country, but everyone swoops in and takes care of everything for her. Every time the author set up a possible moment for there to be character growth or conflict and it is resolved immediately. There was more time spent describing every detail of their wedding than in trying to give give the characters more depth. Or building up the plot. Even the hero and heroine's courtship and falling in love is glossed over more than their wedding.
Like I said, I loved the characters and I'm going to try some more of her books. So, I hope the stories and character arcs get better.
