UPDATED REVIEW: 6/15/2016
Our dog chewed on it for about an hour then stopped, BUT, after a couple weeks or so, he started one day and won't stop. He has been chewing on it daily. So, I had to come back and update my review to reflect this. You can also see the image below chewed on. I didn't think he would even go back to it, but it really has been chewed on daily. Even our little dog will shew on it sometimes.
So, yeah, I do recommend this wishbone chew bone. If your dog does not chew on it right away, just keep giving it to him/her and eventually I'm sure your dog will start. These are great for cleaning their teeth.
All in all, great company and good product. I would recommend over Nylabone because of its shape as well as customer service.
Update 7/18/14: Just purchased my 6th Benebone. The previous 5 are holding up well. They are in various degrees of "chew-ation." The nubs are worn down to assorted taper shapes and bumps, but my Bullies still love em. Sometimes I smear a little peanut butter on the roughened surfaces to give them an extra treat. My girls show no interest in any of their old Nylabone, and Antler chews, which works for me! I gave them to a Scout, who was collecting them for an Eagle Scout Project, to be donated to the local animal shelter. Thanks friends at Benebone! For this intelligently designed Doggie Chew!
Update 4/21/15: Have made my 6th purchase of Benebone's. My girls are crazy about these things. I have also purchased them for a friend's dog, as a gift. Their just that good. I hope Benebone's will be around for years to come, as they have made my girls very happy, and I don't plan on disappointing them!
PLease note this may be useless to her, but that is NOT indicative of every dog, nor every beagle, she has her own preference as do humans.
I actually feel like I made the review "from her perspective" which 1 star was a bit unfair. The seller really does care and responds back kindly! SO that alone makes me a customer for other products!
Hasn't been used since, she's rather eat tissue than this, that's because she understands its just a hard item but really can't see a dog wanting this.
I would say maybe a Large dog like a Pit Bull who could use, but a small or medium sized dog will snub their nose at this as there is no incentive for MY dog. I have a BEAGLE believe me if there was a hint of peanut butter flavor (on the outside) (She was so disinterested in it, I don't believe the could ever even get to the peanut butter smell..
I know there's many beagle owners...and you know nothing gets past that nose! >:)
Regardless, each Benebone tends to last 2-3 months. Two of my pups are smaller (about 20 pounds - and they tend to go through these faster). My other dog is about 35 pounds and depending on her habits, one can last her 4+ months. One of my favorite things about these is that they don't stink!!!! I love to have my dogs with me but I would always cringe when they would bring their hooves or horns onto the bed.
Additionally, these don't leave little shreds around my house like other bones have. My recommendation is to go for the Bacon bone first, then the peanut butter, and lastly the rotisserie chicken.
