Very good rifle
This rifle is very good. I've gotten as good as 1" groups at 50 yards. Add a TKO muzzle break and a Williams peep sight and you have yourself a very silent and accurate pest control device.

Cant go wrong with this rifle, its very well built, has great power, excellent accuracy, by far the best multi pump on the market. It has its quarks of course, most notably lack of dovetail sights, so you will have to purchase intermounts to mount a scope. In my opinion for a $160
gun Crosman should have just included a set standard, but the open sights are great and I plan to install a peep sight down the road. Trigger is a bit lackluster but should improve over time. Pumping is hard, however you don't have to pump all eight times for each shot for plinking I generally just use 3-4 pumps, the fact that you can vary the power to the situation is one of the main reason I use multi pump air rifles. All in all its a great buy, make sure to oil the pump with pellgun oil every couple hundred shots and it will last for years.

Had one as a kid and bought again because it worked so well then.

I would say that the build quality for the metal components still is very high quality, but the wood stocks leave much to be desired. The stocks are definitely cheaper wood than they were 30 years ago, the finish is a bit rough, especially on the cross grain ends, they are stained dark rather than being mahogany like they once were. Also the safety mechanism is now plastic and used to be metal components.

It shot perfectly right out of the box - I did not even need to sight it in!

I use it for killing gophers who stick their heads up out of the holes and have had lots of kills at 5 yards+.

Love the fact that you pump it up rather than using disposable Co2 bottles.

I did a lot of searching and wanted a good pump 177cal gun. I grew up with a 880 and had it for years, shot thousands of BBs with it. When that died i have since gone thru 2 with in 4 years. They are now junk and certainly not worth the money. I remembered my grandfather having a Benjamin, did my search and found it on Amazon. What don't they have! I did buy it and shipped fast, I also got the peep sight and a small target. Best little pump gun, I have all ready shot over a 1000 pellet's and its dead on. The vibration when shooting would alter the sight and I would have to tweak the sight and bring it back into zero. Now it has been shot 250 more and it hasn't moved. Well worth it, solid and accurate! Squirrels watch out!

If you get a good sample, these can be huge fun. Even two pumps (.177, or three .22) work fine on beer cans at 20 meters. The one I got is good enough for cans but can't make a tight enough group for humane hunting or pest control. I suspect that Crosman (maker) is not a happy place given their string of interesting products with QA problems. My sample has thick overspray down the bore from the muzzle and I think that may produce the poor accuracy, at least in part. Overspray is allowed into the air pumps, too. It's a tough coating so removal is not likely done without other damage. No excuse for that sort of thing. My sample further feels as though the chamber is poorly finished: it does very badly with any wadcutter pellets because, I think, these hang up and get damaged as they feed past the port that feeds air to push them out the barrel. It's better, but not great, with round nosed pellets. As delivered, triggers on the 39x's are awful but can be much improved if you have the skills. NTL, I love the look and feel of the 39x guns and own four of them including a 50 year old ancestor.

Update after several hundred rounds. Groups have tightened up quite a bit with most pellet types. Perhaps the overspray in the bore has worn away or polished down. It's still visible. Crosman Ultra Magnum pellets shoot very well indeed and feed well. A three star rating fits nonetheless for the ridiculous break in period.

This is NOT the old Sheridan Blue Streak of the past. The piece I bought recently had a stock that was scratched in two places, bluing worn off of the receiver near the bolt. Looked used to me, but I paid for new.
The gun wouldn't shoot in the same place twice off of a rest, with the Destroyer pellets. It wouldn't completely evacuate the pressure after using seven pumps. I had to dry fire it to remove remaining pressure.
The pins holding the forestock had to be driven back in with a punch after six rounds. Unacceptable.
I had to return this POS, and will never buy another Benjamin product again, if this is the quality to be expected.

Shoots hard. The wood finish is cheap. I'm sanding it down and put a black stain on it. Next clear coat. Black stock with the hardwood grain looks real nice. Next to the black metal barral.
Any ways... the riffle shoots great. I have not chronograph it yet. At 3 pumps it's great at 5 pumps it's awsome. At 8 pumps I love it! It's outstanding!
The rear sight seams to get bumped around a bit. Or maybe it is something I can tighten? One screw holds the rifle stock on was loose out right out of the box. But dont over tighten or it could split the wood stock. Pumping it the first times sounds like rough metal to metal rubbing. But that seens to be fixing its self. I may look to see if something needs cleaning up. But the gun shoots great the rest will get there. Don't let that discourage you from trying this riffle out. Make it yours by fixing it up a little.
Custom riffle by you. Crossman/Benjaman has made nice pump riffles for many years. Some of the first ones they made are still shooting with proper care. This one will too.

No expensive Co2 bottles to buy, no Scuba Tank pumps to rely on, and is WAY more accurate than, "Break Barrels". You may also mount ANY type of scope to it, without breaking the scope, as the, "Double Recoil" of Break Barrels do. You may also shoot this with, under the Max amount of pumps, for simple target practice. Most pellets will leave the barrel with 2 pumps, but I always use at least 4. After about 4 pumps, U only gain about 30 Feet Per Second, per pump, anyway.
I own more than one pellet rifle, but a Benjamin Multi Pump, is almost always the one that I grab.
