The most popular Japanese slicer. No kitchen should be without one of these affordable and easy-to-use tools! Adjustable blade makes slices of varying thickness; Ranging from fine to medium. Also with the coarse replaceable blades the Benriner is capable of cutting slices of three different sizes.

This is one of those tools that can cut your prep time in half. It’s lightweight, easy to travel with, takes up little room and in my opinion is safer than the larger heavier all steel contraptions out there. Mandolins are scary for a lot of people and I’ve seen lots of accidents. So... pay attention, use the hand guard on smaller pieces and trim your food to the right size before putting it on the mandolin and make sure the blade is sharp. Replace the blade if you don’t know how to sharpen it.
I’m a chef and the portable, light weight of this slicer is perfect for bringing a knife kit back and forth. The blade is crazy sharpe and you can adjust the size of the thickness which the last one I bought couldn’t. The hand guard is awesome, the only down side to it is it leaves behind about about half an inch of product that cannot be sliced. However, I recommend this product to anyone.

This is my third Slicer bought from the same company. I normally just use the small (teeth) blade. It seems that the blade quality was poorer when I use to shred the green mango from the 2nd and the 3rd Slicer comparing to the first one I had several years ago. For softer veggi such as papaya, carrot, then it works fine.

Wouldn't work on carrots ... too dense for this slicer. Works well on softer vegetables such as zucchini, potatoes. Vegetable holder would be better if metal, or prongs which penetrate into the veggie better.
I've been making zucchini noodles with this slicer and it is so easy to use! The one thing I would say is that I don't feel very comfortable using it with bare hands (as I'm prone to careless mistakes). I wear a cutting glove while using this and don't have to worry about any kitchen injuries at all!
I bought this to be able to cut potatoes into uniform shoestring french fries using one of the attachments. After one potato, it became increasingly difficult to use and the potatoes came out in large, flat, and thick slices with grooves in them. We realized that what must have happened during the first or second potato, was that the prongs of the attachment bent slightly sideways. This 1) made it difficult to force the slices through, 2) made the attachment ineffective, and 3) required extra force to get the potatoes through the blade. It's a miracle everyone walked away with their fingers. But I suppose it will still work for standard slicing in the future.

I have a large mandoline. It is also extremely sharp. Neither this unit or my large mandoline have very good solutions for holding items to be sliced. I like the size of this mandoline and the fact that it can be hooked over the edge of a bowl. It will continue to be of greater use than the 4X more expensive unit.
