Rose’s Perfect Pie Plate is specially designed by Rose with deep-fluted edges for creating beautifully scalloped pie crusts. Whether just learning how to make pie or perfecting a pie crust from scratch, Rose’s Perfect Pie Plate bakes to perfection, from sweet to savory pie recipes, like homemade apple pie or pumpkin, a lofty lemon meringue or shepherd's pie. With its 4-cup capacity and deeply fluted edge, this award-winning pie dish supports more substantial pies and elaborate, decorative crusts. It allows more secure handling into and out of the oven. Beautifully packaged in a decorative hat box with Rose’s Recipe Booklet, with step-by-step instructions and easy pie recipes from Rose Levy Beranbaum, award-winning American baker and cookbook author of 'The Pie and Pastry Bible', 'The Cake Bible' and ‘The Baking Bible’ and host of the PBS cooking series 'Baking Magic'. Clean-up - I've had no problems with sticking or stains so far. The smooth surface cleans up quite easily. I usually hand-wash everything except my plates and utensils, so not sure how this stands up to the dishwasher, but I am personally not interested.
Looks - This is gorgeous with thick and wavy flutes. It looks nice with or without food in it.
Color - Although I was tempted to go with "Sage" because I love green, I chose the neutral "Wheat" and it sure is pretty. I love the warm, creamy color, and it looks nice with all kinds of pie and quiche.
Durability - So far so good. This item is hefty and with care I imagine it will last a good long time. It has gone from freezer to oven to bake crusts, so it seems sturdy even with temperature flux. The finish has appeared durable so far, but my mom took a carbon steel butcher knife to my first quiche before I noticed, asked her to halt and handed her blunt knife. It does have a long score mark from that event. I don't know what she was thinking, I suspect she was distracted by the yummy smelling food and being hungry, but don't make that mistake unless you want to ruin the finish.
Manufacturing Location - It was made in China. I wish it weren't but even Le Creuset stoneware, despite it's high cost, is now made in places like this. There are a couple brands that still make their stoneware in less sketchy places, like France, but those companies were higher cost than even Le Creuset. As a newbie baker, and person on a small budget, I simply couldn't justify the expense. Maybe someday, more things will be made in the USA again. For now we can at least get some things, like Lodge's cast iron cookware. But with this pie pan, or any one at a similar price point? No, not yet.
Note - I uploaded a picture of my first pastry crust + quiche, and it's a bit ugly, but it sure tasted good and it looks pretty nice in the HIC pie pan! Hope the picture helps. :-)

My only wish would be that it was bigger.
It’s great for a dessert that you don’t need to feed the masses with. I’ll have to keep using my Pyrex deep dish and jolly green giant sized dishes for feeding small gatherings with pot pies and sweet treats.
