Best In Class No Doubt

I have used braid since mid 90's and cannot begin to understand how mono is still used for as many applications as I see. Yes it has a function for leader, backing, and a few other niche needs but braid is where it's at.
If you like to not lose lures, NOT lose 20-60 yards of line on a snag, and have a single spool last 1-2 seasons then buy Spiderwire.
I haw used Fireline, Spiderwire, Power Pro, Suffix, and Spiderwire is BY FAR the most consistently strong and reliable hands down. I fish freshwater mostly and have NEVER broken a fish off. When snagged, I will bend swivel, or bend hook, or break lure before line break. Still would lose lure with mono, and a bunch of line. Suggest 20/6 or 30/8 size. Any smaller is REALLY hard to handle and tie knots with. Tight Lines!!!

I used this to wrap a small fishing kit into a paracord bracelet because it's strong and has less memory than monofilament. It does have SOME memory though, or I would give it five stars. I got the 20 pound variety (same diameter as 6 pound monofilament) and was able to wrap right around 90 feet into the core of a bracelet. It's green and black (mostly deep forest green), so it might look great peaking through some weaves, but I chose to hide it completely for protection. Obviously I could have included a shorter leader of mono so the fish would have more trouble seeing it. I didn't. If I'm busting into a survival bracelet I've got a leg up on the competition just by having SOMEthing. I don't fly fish, so I can't comment on its labeled usage, but it's compact and strong enough to use for several absentee fishing traps.

Spiderwire series fishing line is as best as you can get in my opinion. I know most fishermen, hunters etc have their favorites, but I have used Spiderwire for years and it has never let me down. It is a bit more expensive than the others. The braided line will cast smooth and at long distances. Be aware though that when you tie your knots, don't just use any old knot. Get a knot chart and use a specialty knot. My friend just caught a 25lb 41 inch carp on 6lb line. Can't beat it.

Tried various braids and keep coming back to this line. Won't fade. Doesn't bind in spinning or casting reels. Smooth. Long casting. Very strong. I use 6-8lb and catch 23-28" Stripers all day long. Doesn't get "hairy" after use either. Use in salt/brackish water most inshore fishing for trout, Stripers, flounder, reds, etc. Good results over last few years with this line. Reasonably priced compared to other braids too.

Spiderwire is my number 1 choice of fishing line. It casts wonderfully and rarely ever breaks unexpectedly. I can usually work out knots given a few minutes time, unless its a tournament... cut it out and move on. This particular weight I use for my Medium-Heavy rod for catfish.

I have used this through the summer. Braided line is great. You need to get use to using it because the feel is so much different than the older fishing lines. I would suggest if you are using swivels or any other attachments you use a short leader between the swivel and the braided line for simplicity in untangling.

Casts great very sensitive and abrasion resistant. Have landed many large catfish, carp and bass without breaking. It helps to pull some off of the spool after catching large fish to keep it from binding too tight on the spool. Can rip fish out of cover, a good idea to set drag a bit loose so you don't tear the hook out when setting it has no stretch like mono

I have this line spooled up on my Okuma 30s, 40s, and 50s reels. At 20lb test, 30-50 lb tuna, stripers, blues, cobia and kings are not a problem. It has a light tackle feel and is great for smaller fish too. Some folks have trouble with wind knots. I find that I can avoid them, most of the time, by keeping the line taught. I have not personally experienced a problem with line slipage so haven't had to use either tape or glue on the drums. Some folks advocate taking a couple of wraps with mono and then splicing (tying) in the spider wire. You'll need a small set of side cutters to cut the line as toenail clippers don't seem to work that well. I've also found that a good double loop 10-12 twist fisherman's knot will not slip (so far). I think it's well worth the price. Happy fishing.
