It melted three .223 shells to liquid in about a minute. It unsoldered a 2 inch plumbing fixture in about twelve seconds. And it burned through 1/4 inch heavy grade copper pipe in 35 seconds. I don't think this thing will break either. It's a twenty year tool I'd estimate.
I'm not a five star review kind of person. I have had a couple. The seller was a little slow to ship this item to me but the product exceeds my expecatiations. Normally you get what you pay for. I got more. Buy it if you need a little or a lot of heat put some mapp on it and it will as good of a job as any handheld bottle-type torch there is and for much less money.
Frankly, I really dislike the self-lighting models that have a built-in ignition. I like my tools durable, functional, and simple. So, for me - I the ignition mechanism in most available torches is just one more thing to break. I've read plenty of complaints about it on the models that have it. if it breaks, there is no fixing it.
This is solid brass. Approximately 6" in length (bigger than I was expecting). The only piece of plastic on this is adjustment for the flame. Plus, the amount of gas is fully adjustable.
Currently, I'm using propane in my tank, even though this says "mapp" on the box. It is compatible with either type. Even with propane, this puts out a really powerful flame. I gave it a quick test, and it doesn't take long to sweat a few pipes with this bad boy.
The current top of the line for bernzomatic is the TS8000 - I'd take this any day over the current "top of the line." In my opinion, this torch head is worth twice what I paid.
UPDATE: I've re-plumbed all potable water in my house using this torch head (plumbing was in bad shape and needed to be completely redone). For 3/4", this sweats copper and large stuff like ball valves without any issue when using propane, it puts out a great flame. I switched to MAPP gas for 1" pipe and valves and such. So, this has gotten plenty of use. This is a great buy if you can get your hands on it!

Really pumps out the heat, especially with MAAP gas! Used it to braze rusted steel on my old 1996 Chevy and was able to build up a sizable bead to make a strong joint. Read morePublished 5 months ago by PeteFior

It is hard to find a propane torch that will provide a bigger flame than the standard pencil torch. With that being said, this torch is the granddaddy of all the propane torches I... Read morePublished 7 months ago by Red Top
Nice consistent hot flame. Love that it has an actual gas regulator built in so you don't have to worry about what position the gas cylinder is in.Published 7 months ago by Josh
