Editorial Reviews

Review

"Shaw explains in easy to understand terminology ... without taking away from the mystery. By adding examples in real-world terms, complex ideas are defined in a fun way. I found The Best Bits of Physics by Alasdair C. Shaw enjoyable and a great comprehensive brush-up on key concepts. This book would be awesome for a high school student or for someone in a career requiring a basic understanding of physics. In addition, some of the experiments would be great party tricks."Suzanne Cowles for Readers' Favorite

About the Author

Alasdair studied at the University of Cambridge, leaving with a BA in Natural Sciences and anMSci in Experimental and Theoretical Physics. His masters options included gravitational astrophysics, planetary geophysics, remote sensing and high resolution electron microscopy. He went on to earn a PGCE specialising in Science and Physics from the University of Bangor. A secondary teacher for over fifteen years, he has plenty of experience communicating scientific ideas.

He has been climbing, mountaineering, caving, white-water kayaking and skiing as long as he can remember. Growing up, he spent most of my spare time in the hills. Recently, he's been spending more time sea kayaking and swimming, and has got into trail running.
