Bow Wow Wow have some great tunes, but my favorites are all on the IMPORT The Best of Bow Wow Wow, not this domestic version. The import has the original versions, which I prefer. The tracks on the domestic CD are overproduced and play like "extended disco versions".

Bow Wow Wow have always been just a band that only a few people have heard of , let alone listened to, but they have always deserved a lot more than this. The musicianship on all their songs is top notch especially the bass playing and the drumming.I honestly would say that Leroy Gorman (the bassist ), is the best, fastest amd most interesting bass player that I have ever heard. All in all, it is a great album by one of the real anomalies of pop music. Buy and be pleasantly delighted.

...I must say it's nice to come back to after hearing the dreck that's out nowadays. The drums & bass on this CD are far above what you hear these days. The bass player is very funky in a non-overkill-slapping way (e.g. Flea). He's sort of a cross between Rocco Prestia (Tower of Power) with a little bit of Mark King (another Brit, from Level 42) thrown in. Very rhythmic stuff and more power to them in pulling it off in a post-punk/new-wave pop era & style. One thing the CD lacks is the naughty song "Sexy Eiffel Tower" which is sort of the 80's version of a Donna Summer album (a lot of heavy breathing). But overall this is an excellent CD for the money for an underrated and hard-to-find band.

Like much of early eighties new wave, Bow Wow Wow has been largely dismissed by mainstream rock critics as being too shallow and gimmicky. Now, 15 years after their heyday, maybe people will forget about the haircuts and look at all the great songs these guys wrote. With the big, hollow-body punk/rockabilly guitars over exotic, tribal rhythms, Bow Wow Wow had an intoxicating, unique sound, and Anabella's voice was really strong on her best stuff. With the nineties full of depressing, negative, one-dimensional junk like Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, Bow Wow Wow is a welcome reminder that rock music can be creative, rebellious and edgy, but still FUN! Do You Want To Hold Me is simply one of the most perfect singles ever recorded--edgy, exotic, sensual, warm and incredibly catchy. All in all, a great summertime CD.

I have always loved Bow Wow Wow.
I stumbled on to them when I was visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia California.
Didn't know they were gonna be there because they were so new,
they hadn't put out an album yet and weren't even on MTV yet.
Glad I got this. The young lady lead singer sure didn't seen like she was 14 years old then.
She said in later years that she lied about her age to be able to join the band.
Wow - great history.

This is an excellent collection of Bow Wow Wow greatest hits, and some never released materials. If you are a fan, or even if you just like their hit: I Want Candy (cover), you should give this album a try.

Bow Wow Wow is not a Household Name, They Charted Once in the USA with "I want Candy" (Top 50), and released only 3 Proper Albums...Their Sound is Tribal, the Lead Singer Annabella often Yelps to Percussive Drumming and throbbing Bass, The Mixture yields Many Great Tunes, but it can take getting used to, as it did for Me, I was not a Fan untill much listening...If You don't know a lot of the Group's Songs, I suggest listening to as many 30 second Samples as possible to get a feeling of whether this stuff is digestible...Most of the Songs here are first-rate, I particularly Love "TV Savage", "Golly Golly Go Buddy!" and "Louis Qatorze", along with Annabella's Solo Turn "Fever"....If You want to explore further, I suggest the CD "Girl Bites Dog: Your Compact Disc Pet" to round out Your Collection, it includes more Gems, such as "Sexy Effiel Tower" (Where 14 Year-Old Annabella Pants Orgasmically...and more authentically than Donna Summer)and "Radio G String", as well as 3 Cuts from this CD in different versions; But begin here, and don't go further unless You Adore this CD....

Musically I'm a child of the 1960s, but the 1980s comes very close in sheer exuberance & experimentation -- and Bow Wow Wow is right there at the top of that era for me, sounding even better now than when they first appeared, all thundering tribal beats & Annabella's joyous, energetic vocals, putting most contemporary pop music to shame. Delicious naughty but innocent, with a stripped-down sound that actually had some complexity to it, Bow Wow Wow has been unjustly dismissed as little more than a novelty act by many -- but listening to this compilation, it's hard to understand why, because from the very first track, they grab hold of you & don't let go. And you don't want them too, either! They had chops, they had a sense of humor, and they were pure, unadulterated fun. You can't ask for much more from a band -- highly recommended!
