I was remodeling a 43 year old home with an offset fireplace that did not have an insert and showing its age. I wanted something stylish but more importantly economical....after all, it was going to be a rental home. Like many others, I opted not to use the legs but instead mount it (turned upside down and used screws holes to mount to brick). It was exactly what I needed... safety factor, sturdy, stylish and just perfect! Well worth the money. I am not sure my pictures give it justice. Everyone loves it and say how beautiful it is.

Like most have noted already the legs are super long in the back which leaves a pretty large gap between the fireplace and the screen. We had seen people had screwed theirs into the fireplace front but we didn't super love the idea of making holes in the brick. We decided to saw the back feet off. My partner was able to do it easily with a hacksaw. That does mean it leans forward when the doors are open open but it was more important to keep our cats our of a burning fireplace. Also, it's not like we'll have them open for prolonged periods of time. All in all, for the price it's a pretty sturdy screen and quite simple and pretty.

This fireplace gate is so pretty. It just brings my fireplace and family room out beautifully. I had a black gate at first and it didn’t do anything for my fireplace, so I ordered this one. It was very easy to assemble. The knobs and feet are the only things that need to be assembled. It took me less that 3 minutes. I love the magnetic closure. This is a great buy for this beautiful gate.

The fireplace screen really added well to our living room! We have a large fireplace that separates the living from the dining room. The large magnetic doors open wide for easy access to tend the fire. It was very well built, I decided to not use the stand up legs. I turned it up side down and used two of the four stand holes to tack it to the fireplace. Totally safe and beautiful. We were lucky to find it and will be in our family a long time! BTW: from Amazon, on the floor in front is the best, cleanest, and easiest way to bring firewood into the house!!! 8 to 10 pieces at a time! Used it 100+times, still going strong!

Like many others have said, this item has a design flaw - the legs are way too long in the back. As-is, it would sit over 8" out from the fireplace, which makes no sense at all. I cut about 6" of length off the back of the legs with a hacksaw and now it sits just in front of the fireplace opening. Another flaw is in the finish of the knobs - they arrived damaged with black paint flaking off. I used a sharpie paint pen to touch up both the knobs and where I cut the legs. It looks great now, just requires a bit of work.

We bought the gold screen, there is a reason it’s priced as low as it is. As many other reviews state, the feet on the backside of the screen are way too long and create too large of a gap from the fireplace to screen. My screen was also missing a bolt hole...on one of the feet the top hole for the bolt just hadn’t been drilled all together.
The gold finish is certainly just spray paint over a black (presumably spray painted) finished screen. It was obvious because the mesh parts only had gold paint on them along where the solid metal parts were sprayed, and the centers were still black. It looked absolutely terrible. (Sorry forgot to take a before pic)
I drilled out the missing hole without issue.
I used a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder and cut 3.75” off of the rear feet on each side (about half of their length). It’s still very stable and sits much closer (see pics).
I got some brass finish spray paint, taped off all the solid metal parts, and resprayed the front of the mesh to make a consistent finish.
After this, it looks much much better and I’m still into it for less than 1/3 of the cost of similar “nicer” brass finished fireplace screens.
