I'm a small young woman and was able to unpack this and put it together in about 15 minutes (getting the mirror on to the frame was a bit difficult but I found a box to prop it up on and got it on). The mirror is perfect. I have no issues with it being fun-house like or skewed in any way.
This item holds an incredible amount of jewelry and it looks GREAT! All of my friends want one. I now feel like I own my own little jewelry store. I don't generally take the time to review products, but swore to myself I would for this one. Don't let the bad reviews cause you to miss out on a great product at a great price. I am a VERY satisfied buyer.
-if you place anything on the bracelet rack, it will not close
- The earring slits are too thick so many different hooks for earrings will not be able to go over them
- if you have any necklaces with large pendants you cannot place them on the hooks to the left hand side of the door or the right hand side. Left hand provents it from closing, and right hand blocks it from closing due to the Placement of the bracelet rack.
- product is very cheaply made, even IKEA wouldn't carry this
- shelves down below are very very shallow and cannot hold any form of bulk your jewelry aside from studs
This armoire is poorly designed and was not thought out properly I would not recommend buying this product .
Now for the not so great cons.
1.) You can see in the posted photos that there are small cracks around one of the screw brackets that secures the door to the main unit. Because this wasn't visible from the outside and did not affect the function of the unit, I decided the hassle of returning something this large was not worth the added effort.
2.) There are a few pretty significant design flaws here that I didn't think about before I actually went to fill it with my jewelery. First, it's too shallow in spots to accommodate a realistic jewelry collection. For example, you cannot use the bracelet bar for anything of significant size (think plastic or wooden bangle-style); the door won't close, and you run the risk of damaging your bracelets or the pieces they would rest against. Another issue you can also see in the photo is that that, while I appreciate the number of necklace hooks, the ones on the door are a terrible placement. When you open and close the door, the necklaces swing and have the potential to be damaged and turn into a tangled mess. These hooks would have been more ch better places inside on the stable part of the unit. I have the unit at the most upright tilt, which helps, but it is still an issue. You have to be very careful. You also cannot use the hooks on the door for necklaces of any significant size (think larger beads or statement necklaces) because, again, the door won't close and you have potential for damage to your jewelry.
At the price (around $80 at the time of my purchase), it will be ok for a while. It does have the potential to hold a lot of jewelry and looks like a nice piece of furniture (from the outside). The design and flaws of the design, however, are something to consider before you purchase.
The design of the jewelry storage is pretty much the same as all the other jewelry armoires I found. It's not a perfect configuration. I have several 30+ inch necklaces I want to hang, but if I hang them on the back they hit the shelves on the bottom, and if I hang them on the door since it is at an angle they hit the shelves when the door is closed. I think I'm going to modify it by removing a couple of shelves from the back. It will take some tools though, since none of the shelves are adjustable.
