There are a number of great songs on this album. The production values are not up to current standards in terms of sound quality and clarity, but the goods are there. Delbert's one of the best singers of blues-based rockers and soulful ballads there is. His husky voice worn raspy after twenty five plus years in the business, his southern twang and his phrasing combine to produce a powerful, tasteful, captivating interpretation of well chosen songs that tell moving, funny and fun stories. My favorites on this album are Otis Redding's "I've Got Dreams to Remember" a sadder-but-wiser ballad, Al Green's "Take Me To The River" which has been widely covered but nowhere better, and three rockers with stories "Giving It Up For Your Love", "Real Thing" and "Heartbreak Radio". If you like blues and soul, you'll like Delbert.

A great rockin album by Delbert. This is one of those albums where every song is great. Not his earlier country, but the type of tuneful soulful music you would hear when you pulled into a Texas roadhouse on your Harley. A few originals by Delbert but mostly covers of classic R&B done much better than the originals. Best slow tune-Dreams to Remember. Best rockin tune- Givin It Up For Your Love. Great horn section. Can't say enough good about this CD.

People who are not aware of Delbert McClinton's music need to wake up and get some. Bouncy, East Texas, Blue-Eyed Soul with a heavy back-beat doesn't come close to describing the variety of his music. Full of laments of lost loves, and other problems of the human condition, along with some of the best back-up music you will ever find, his records are a joy. See if this will get your attention. It is widely reported that Delbert taught John Lennon to play blues' harmonica. This is music from the 60s, right on up to the 2011s, and can easily turn into one of your "guilty pleasures". Enjoy.

I got this c.d. because I was going to see Delbert and special guest star, Leon Russell. I'm an old hippie, and really only went because of Leon. Who, incidentally, at the show in Winnie, Tx. did a 90 minute set that made the trip and the time so much worth it. I didn't really even remember Delbert, but wanted to play the music prior to the concert. It's not my bag, so I didn't appreciate the music at all. But, if you are a Delbert fan, I'm sure you would enjoy. The seller delivered, that's for sure.
