Editorial Reviews

Review

"The romance and the eroticism in all of the stories was the absolute perfect mixture."
—Pop My Cherry Reviews

"A wonderful range of stories that tell erotic tales of new love, the fears accompanying the start of a marriage, pregnancy, stolen moments from child-rearing, the antidote to stagnation in a relationship, the pain of broken dreams and the fear of commitment."
—Night Owl Reviews

"If you want to skip past the soap-opera stories and get right to the juicy stuff, then you should probably pick up Best Erotic Romance, the first anthology to offer stories where the sexual and the romantic are entwined. ... All the stories have an optimistic ending that will leave a song in your heart and a smile on your lips—the passionate, emotional encounters will leave you breathless."

From the Back Cover

True Romance and Passion

From fresh, new love to long-term committed relationships, the erotic, romantic stories in this collection crackle with emotion, passion and edge. In Donna George Storey's "First Night," Sophie worries needlessly that getting married will dampen her prolific sex life with Justin. A chance encounter at a truck stop leads to a morning tryst between strangers who drive off together in Craig J. Sorensen's "The Draft." Strip away the ties and toys from a kinky sex life and what's left? Heidi Champa answers that question in "Another Trick up My Sleeve."

The scorching hot sensuality and the happily-ever-after (or happy-for-now) endings in Best Erotic Romance will leave you satisfied and delighted. Award-winning romance writer and editor Kristina Wright and her ensemble of gifted contributors have crafted stories that will linger in your memory for a long, long time.

With contributed stories by Sylvia Day, Donna George Storey, Heidi Champa, Delilah Devlin, Saskia Walker, Justine Elyot, Angela Caperton, Andrea Dale, Kate Dominic, Craig J. Sorensen, Shanna Germain, Emerald, Kate Pearce, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Erobintica, Kristina Wright, and Nikki Magennis.

Format: Paperback
A stimulating collection of sensual stories edited by Kristina Wright, "Best Erotic Romance" is comprised of seventeen short stories by some of the most talented writers of erotica. There are stories that cover almost every situation, from Delilah Devlin's tale of a sensual going-away gift a dispatcher takes for herself from the younger trucker she has been lusting after in `Drive Me Crazy' to Sylvia Day's version of `What Happened in Vegas' morphing into something that a couple needs to move their relationship beyond Sin City as well as Kristina Wright's sensitive treatment of the fragility of a pregnant woman's need for sensual reassurance from her lover in `The Curve of Her Belly'. Heidi Champa reminds us that new toys or role playing is not always necessary to keep the bedroom activities desirable in `Another Trick Up My Sleeve' while another sizzling farewell encounter is orchestrated in Angela Caperton's `Guest Services'. Kate Pearce reminds us that anything worthwhile needs a little variety and perhaps a little selfishness to keep from falling into a rut with her story `Cheating Time' while Rachel Kramer Bussel's heroine decides to channel her jealousy into action in `Our Own Private Champagne Room'. These and ten other scintillating tales showcase the various opportunities for erotic encounters in a wide variety of circumstances.

A thought-provoking and entertaining gamut of tales that encompass all stages of romance. A wonderful range of stories that tell erotic tales of new love, the fears accompanying the start of a marriage, pregnancy, stolen moments from child-rearing, the antidote to stagnation in a relationship, the pain of broken dreams and the fear of commitment. A enjoyable reminder that romance and eroticism are synergistic and healthy elements of a relationship.

If you are looking for sexy stories about long-term relationships, Kristina's latest collection by Cleis Press is a sure place to find erotic romance that sizzles. These are tales where love and affection are strong supporting characters with really good sex playing the lead. Be warned: there's something for everyone in this anthology which includes 17 stories by some of the biggest names in erotic literature including Rachel Kramer Bussel, Kate Dominic, Andrea Dale, Donna George Storey and Delilah Devlin.

As with most anthologies, certain tales elevate the form and avoid sex scene cliches better than others. Blame It On Facebook is such an example: here, we don't have the usual emotional infidelity narrative, but a life-like reunion of a war widow who finds warmth, affection and really good sex in the arms of a long ago family friend. It's relevant for the times and hot enough to keep you wondering about your own long ago unrequited crush.

Disclaimer: this book puts romance center stage, and if your own relationship is lagging in this area, you might find yourself pining away for one of the sexy beasts in Wright's collection. She must have had an exquisite selection to choose from, and/or the authors were really primed to the task, because each is well written, blending sensual language with settings that feel fresh and creative.

This is a collection to treasure, and what especially makes it shine is what I'd call its sensitivity. Story after story, the erotic details are richly and finely woven, and the emotional landscapes have an inviting depth. Carefully constructed eyefuls of fresh and thought-provoking language abound throughout.

Angela Caperton's "Guest Services," Andrea Dale's "Memories for Sale," and Emerald's "Honey Changes Everything"--all very different from each other--are just three examples of tales in which the sexual narratives carry the reader away with their luscious, engulfing beauty. Shanna Germain's "To Be in Clover" demonstrates how a literary master can make first-class magic with a light hand; it's a new favorite piece for me from this author. Erobintica's "Till the Storm Breaks," not only hot but also warm, made me giddily happy. And I don't know quite how she did it--maybe it's something to do with the deft changes in point of view--but Nikki Magennis wrote an offbeat erotic story, "Dawn Chorus," in which the inevitable climax somehow took me by surprise, coalescing in the midst of artful, fevered tangles of narrative motion--which I found astoundingly lifelike.

I've just scratched the surface of the collective talent that makes this book what it is: the table of contents also includes such favorites as Donna George Storey, Heidi Champa, Saskia Walker, Justine Elyot, Craig J. Sorensen, Kate Pearce, Rachel Kramer Bussel, and of course editor Kristina Wright. Again, this is an anthology not only to read but to treasure.

This is the first book in a new series edited by Kristina Wright. Best Erotic Romance has some top names nestling between its covers. Shayla Black supplies a foreword, and the stories themselves are penned by Sylvia Day, Donna George Storey, Heidi Champa, Delilah Devlin, Saskia Walker, Justine Elyot, Angela Caperton, Andrea Dale, Kate Dominic, Craig J. Sorensen, Shanna Germain, Emerald, Kate Pearce, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Erobintica, Kristina Wright and Nikki Magennis.

These happily-ever-after or happy-for-now stories are varied; from brand new couples to those that have been together for years, readers are bound to identify with at least one tale. My particular favourites were Blame it on Facebook by Kate Dominic and The Draft by Craig J. Sorensen. Both were very different stories, but both were seriously sexy and left me grinning.

Some of the stories in Best Erotic Romance are more romantic than others, but they're all extremely erotic and will have you fanning yourself in no time at all. So if you're looking for an erotic read where there are interesting storylines, and the characters mean more to one another than just sex, then you should definitely add this book to your to be read list.
