To begin with, I am a life long Foreigner fan, having purchased their first album way back in '77. I have gone on to see the band countless times, the best of those were at their peak with Lou Gramm at the mic. Foreigner is an interesting band these days having only one original member (Mick Jones) and having the distinction of releasing multiple live albums, dvd's, greatest hits and re-recordings which over the last decade now outnumber their entire studio output. I was initially excited when I heard Mick and company had planned on performing and recording the ENTIRE "4" album but now, not so much. This album contains only seven of the original albums ten tracks, leaving gems like "I'm Gonna Win" and "Luanne" inexplicably left by the wayside. Many of the songs appearing here have been recorded multiple times on the aforementioned live releases, with only "Woman In Black", "Girl On The Moon" and the classic track "Break It Up" finally seeing the light of day on a live release. For the inclusion of these tracks alone, this disc is worth the price of admission. That said, I feel the band missed a great opportunity to pay homage to a true classic, by performing and releasing the entire "4" album front to back. What we are left with is rather disjointed as the songs don't appear in their original order, even as played at the concerts used to record these songs, and also the awkward momentum killing fades between tracks. Nice attempt, but perhaps next time and maybe with Lou Gramm back in the fold they will finally pay the appropriate tribute to one of rock's greatest albums.

Yes. I am aware that Mick Jones is the only remaining original member. I too love Lou Gramm but dude now sings Hot Blooded a full octave lower. He has had major health problems and does his best but can't cut it. So Mick goes out and finds the closest thing to Lou. Kelly Hansen sounds great!!!! Many of the other members have been in the group for 20 years. They sound better than ever! Yes - this is a rehash, another live album, etc. The difference on this one is the mix is incredible. The bass player, Jeff Pilson is the producer and it shows in the finished product. The mix is hot on the drums and bass and it flat out rocks! The tunes sound fresh and there are no filler tracks. I paid 5.99 on Amazon. A truly great live album for an incredible price. Now ---- quit reading this and order it. You will not be disappointed!!!

So, the debate goes on as far as original members lacking in bands that maybe started in the 70's or whatever era or replacement singers of the original singer as in the case of Kelly Hansen replacing Lou Gramm and the drama between Mick Jones and Lou Gramm. Doubtful that Lou Gramm will ever play with Foreigner again so just get used to the idea that Kelly Hansen is here to stay. For this release, another part compilation of sorts the band decides to record 7 of 10 songs from Foreigner 4 live and release it with a few staples thrown in. While some fans are upset over this because it lacks the three other songs from Foreigner 4 'Luanne', 'I'm Gonna Win' and 'Don't Let Go' the title does state "Best of Foreigner 4 & More" so one expect this. While Kelly Hansen is a solid replacement for Lou Gramm, Lou Gramm is still missed. For me, this was their comeback album back in the day and brought them great commercial success with the radio staple up to this day of 'Urgent'. This album is a great album from the band and Mick and bandmates in their way deliver a good performance of the songs. While I would have liked to see the remaining three songs included and the others omitted since they've been included on other live releases this isn't the case here. If you're new to Foreigner then this is a great release but if you're a die-hard fan then not sure if you should add this to your collection other than for the live set list of Foreigner 4. I'm torn here on the rating so four is where it lies for me, but overall a solid release for what it is regardless if one might think it's a money grab by Mick Jones.

It's my fault for rushing to buy this without reading the description thoroughly. However, with it missing three of the original tracks from the 4 album I was very disappointed. I'm also not one that likes live versions much. There again, it was my mistake for not reading the description carefully. But, that being said this album doesn't come close to the original in my opinion.

Meaty, authentic live versions of most of the album 4, with a couple of others. "Urgent" gets an extended workout here, with an inessential intro and long, key-changing sax solo. I did miss the songs they left off from 4, and I was disappointed that "Say You Will" was "unplugged", but the set sounds great--it's the live Foreigner album I always wished for but never happened, and now it has. P.S. Fans of the incredible live double-disc Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight by Styx ought to like this one, too, though I wish Foreigner, like Styx, had given us 4 in its entirety.
