From the Author
The idea for Best Laid Plans came from a conversation with my husband about marrying for money, and that we had failed to do so. We then started joking about splitting up to find spouses with money, and then get back together in five years (hence the five year time period of Best Laid Plans and then next book, Good Fortune). I started to wonder what would happen to a relationship if this idea was taken more seriously, particularly if the relationship was already on somewhat shaky ground.
In Best Laid Plans, we alternate between Sam and Wil's perspective in each chapter, and each chapter is set in a different season. This is a much more formal structure than my previous book, and I enjoyed writing within these restrictions. That being said, after I finish their current story in Good Fortune, I'm looking forward to a less rigid structure!
This book is more clearly located in Portland than Mistakes Were Made, particularly with references to the river, Northwest Portland, and restaurants I love (but also some I made up). Good Fortune has even more references to Portland.
I'm looking forward to sharing the world of Greywater Chronicles with you!
