So check your water report first. If it contains toxic sludge, get the brand name. If you're like me and just need to get rid of some chlorine, this one is perfect.
This is an update on my previous review. The seller saw my review and was gracious enough to send a different filter and give a full refund. As I have already purchased a GE branded filter for my GE fridge, I will not be using the replacement that was sent by Best anytime soon. But I did feel compelled to update the review from 1 star to 3 stars only based on the customer service, not the product.
Original review below:
I purchased this filter on January 12th of this year, and aside from being a little noisy, it did the job. Now, a month later, my wife and I noticed the ice having a particular smell and the water tasted like mold. The water also became a lot more cloudy that normal. I did not contact the manufacturer for a replacement because any water filter that develops a moldy taste/smell after a month of use is not worth "testing" a second time. I value my health too much to give this product a second chance. I'll be going back to the official GE filters. Saving 20 dollars isn't worth it.
UPDATE: I received a second filter from the seller as they saw my review and said the filter I initially received must've been defective. The new one arrived today and had the same problem, even after several runs to get it going and flush thru. Additionally, it "blew up" the water (both when I went to put water in a glass and again inside the fridge when I removed the filter) and created a huge mess both times, once on the fridge exterior and floor, the other inside the fridge. At least it was only water. I know sometimes air bubbles are created and that's normal, but I've never had anything like that happens with previous filters. However, that may have just been a fluke. But, the little particles (not the same as tiny bubbles that dissipate quickly) were there again, and when I put my GE filter back (again), I once again compared the water and it was free of weird specs floating around. I wanted this to work, and I don't like leaving a negative review, but two filters later and the problem still exists. The customer service by the seller was great and incredibly friendly and accommodating tho!
