Auch wenn der Titel der CD mit "Best One Hit Wonders in the World Ever" eindeutig nicht ganz korrekt ist - denn es sind lediglich Tracks von Bands, die es nur mit eben diesem Lied in die UK Top 20 geschafft haben - so stimmt doch zumindest die Komposition.
Dabei reicht die Zeitspanne von "Nut Rocker" aus 1962 bis hin zu Lou Begas "Mambo No.5" von 1999.
Beachtlich ist vor allem aber, dass die Hits gleichmäßig auf die verschiedenen Zeiträume verteilt sind und trotz ihrer grossen Spanne ein sehr hohes Niveau beibehalten.
So finden sich vor allem Kultlieder wie Nenas "99 Red Balloons" oder "It's Raining Men" von The Weather Girls.
Sehr gelungen ist auch die Reihenfolge, denn die Lieder sind so harmonisch angeordnet, dass beim Durchhören die Wechsel durch die doch recht verschiedenen Stile der Epochen immer so gut wie unhörbar bleiben.
Ab und zu fällt zwar auf, dass die CD sich an die UK-Charts hält (z.B. dass "Da, Da, Da" von Trio stammt und somit in der englischen Version daherkommt), aber dies resultiert vor allem in qualitativ guten Liedern, die in Deutschland eher unbekannt geblieben sind und eine angenehme Überraschung darstellen.
Dieses Album ist auf jeden Fall sein Geld wert, da sich für praktisch jeden Geschmack ein paar Lieder finden und es bei den meisten Künstlern nicht wirklich lohnt, das passende Album zu besorgen.
