Two CD set, BEST OF THE RED ARMY CHOIR
Well, I thought it might be a wise decision to have this album on hand to impress my neighbors just in case Moscow's slate of candidates win again on November 3rd, 2020 and the Hammer & Sickle runs up the flagpole again here in the Soviet Republic of Utah, the reddest state in the Rockies.
Some of these massed male vocals sing songs I've heard as jazz tunes from the '30s, notably "Moscow Nights," while the rest are stirring martial music. Most of the album is in stereo. Missing, however, is the choir's version of "California Girls" (a cover of the Beach Boys or David Lee Roth's hit), as featured on Jim Nayder's ANNOYING MUSIC SHOW.
Curiously, these martial strident songs more than remind me of Orrin Hatch's stirring patriotic songs on I LOVE AMERICA by the Osmonds' Second Generation.
