As a little kid I grew up on his children books, "Where the Sidewalk Ends," The Giving Tree," I has no idea what a wonderful song writer he was and the fact that he wrote, "A Boy Named Sue," "The Winner," and many more.
That being said his singing takes a little getting used to , but it is worth it.

But by no means all the good stuff. This is a great place to start with the Shel Silverstein discography. In his lifetime he must have written hundreds of songs. Humor, satire and some just plain great songs. Freakin at the Freakers Ball, Got Stoned and I Missed It, The Unicorn, Queen of the Silver Dollar, Boy Named Sue, Front Row Seat to Hear Ole Johnny Sing, Cover of the Rolling Stone, and Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Put the Garbage Out are my favorites.

I had borrowed this CD from the library, and it had so many good songs on it that I wanted my own copy. With songs like "The Unicorn," "The Cover of the Rolling Stone," and "A Boy Named Sue," I delight in playing it again and again, so I guess you could say it's a trip down Memory Lane for this Baby Boomer. Lots of great songs, many of which you will know and love.
