Best U2 song is "Bad"
Worst U2 song " Daddy is gonna pay for my wrecked car"

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2009, 11:03:20 PM PST
I cannot say what the Best U2 song because it changes daily for me and my mood has a lot to do with it, if i'm mad or feeling blue etc..
but Daddy is gonna pay for my crashed car " is defenetly not the worst U2 song in my opinion. I can't even think of a song that I could say is their worst song.

"Hands That Built America" / "Peace On Earth" / "Babyface" -- all completely atrocious.

Their best song has got to be "One". ('Have you come her for forgiveness? Have you come to raise the dead? Have you come here to play Jesus to the lepers in your head?'....what a great lyric!!)

"Stay (Faraway so close)" is another great one. The live version is great, too.

As far as total effect of the song (lyrics, music, impact, etc)...Ive always thought "Grace" (the closer for All You Cant Leave) to be a gorgeous song.

"A Sort of Homecoming" is another gorgeous song...very thick with imagery.
"New Years Day" is a classic.
"Miss Sarejevo" is haunting and memorable.
I have always loved "11 O' Clock Tick Tock".

Some of u2's worst misfires:
1) "Elevation"...awful lyrics
2) Their cover of "Helter Skelter"...embarrassing
3) Ive never liked "Love and Peace or Else"
4) "Love Me Kiss Me Thrill Me Kill Me" , or whatever the title of that stupid song they did for the Batman soundtrack...grating.

And to the idiot who voted not helpful...I prostrate myself before you for not voting for YOUR particular favorite. That's the problem with the world today...we all dont like the same songs YOU do. Now do us all a favor and grow up.

Hi D. Cross,

Just curious, what constitues a song being "atrocious" for you? Not judging for it is all subjective, but just curious. I happen to love "Hands" and "Peace on Earth"....Baby face was quite different for them...would love your feedback...

Thanks!

I love MoFo, probably my favorite song on POP (which is one of my favorite U2 albums). It strikes me as perhaps Bono's most personal pre-HtDaAB song.

WG Edgar says:
Best: The Unforgettable Fire (Absolutely brilliant) (This is my favourite album as well)

S. Rice says:
Best - "Promenade" (Still kills me everytime)
Worst - "The Refugee"

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 6, 2009, 3:12:28 AM PST
Best: Too many to list
Worst: Numb or Babyface

Note: "best" and "worst" are relative. Any U2 song is better than the vast majority of the material out there.

Top 5 for me:
Walk On
Desire
Bullet the Blue Sky
New Years Day
Pride
I really can't think of a "worst" as they have so much material over the years that some are bound to stand out more than others. I tend to put the CD on and just let it play...and if something doesn't stand out for me, something else is on the way in a few minutes. I tend to figure that what they wrote was what they were feeling at the time. When something hits me the right way...I know it. "Worst" is just a subjective term.

Best: Stay/Running to Stand Still/One

Worst: New York

LMartDC says:
Hi, "Love Me Kiss Me Thrill Me Kill Me" was not actually recorded for the "Batman" movie though yes, it was used on that soundtrack. This song was part of the "Zooropa" recording sessions and just didn't make it into that album. It's not my favorite U2 track either but the lyrics are at least a good take on the sillyness of stardom and the spotlight that goes along with it.
