Django and Jimmie
There's no doubt that Delmar Smith is the "Dog Whisperer". He's the type of person you'd want to be on a hunt with and he has the "Old West" attitude, honest humor in a straight forward manner.
Yes, it is an older "training manual" but one can learn a ton about dog behavior and psychology in this book. There's some techniques that I won't personally use even though you can't doubt his reasons for doing so. Don't sweat the "small stuff", there's ample learning and application information here.
The training command structure and timing within is very important and worth the price alone. Besides....., Delmar is a legend and Bill Tarrant brings this out very honestly and with humor.
It'll be a mainstay on my shelf.
At this point if someone new asked me what to read or study to help them with a new pointing breed I would suggest they find anything by Delmar Smith or his son's Rick or Ronnie.
Excellent book . . .it may seem dated but the info is timeless.
