So let's go through the basics.
The Seller: I got this from BestDealsUSA (or something like that). They sent me an email telling me that their product may be a bit late, as I ordered it right before Hurricane Sandy hit, and it was coming out of New Jersey. Understandable. I sent a thank you email back, they replied quickly and courteously.
I got my mp3 player one day late (outside of the estimated delivery time). All things considered, excellent service and communication. I was impressed and grateful.
Product: The product was as advertised. The mp3 player is made out of cheapish plastic, but it wasn't flimsy and it doesn't feel like it'd break right away. I think it'll handle some action. It came with cheapish headphones and a cheapish usb adapter cord to charge it and to plug it into the computer to transfer songs on. I did try and charge it all day before I used it, like you do with new electronics, but the red light never changed green. There was a green light on the adapter that goes into the plug outlet, so I know the option was there. Regardless, after waiting all day, I tried it out. It lasted a long time. Never went out on me. I think the "on" time for this thing will be decent. Better than my old chunky ipod that gets about 2-3 hours tops.
Audio quality: I'm not the right person to be super biased on audio quality, but the audio itself definitely gets loud enough to hear over say, washing dishes or walking around the house doing things. I couldn't tell the difference between the audio on my ipod and the audio playing through the mp3 player. But that's just me. I use 10 dollar headphones. I might be deaf. Who knows! For myself, the audio might be a lesser quality, but it's a 5 dollar mp3-player (I can say this a million times).
SD-card: The SD card does NOT come with the mp3 player. It says that it SUPPORTS up to 8GB. So I bought an 8GB SD-card off Amazon for 10 dollars. No biggie. When you transfer your songs or music or files onto the sd card when it's inside the mp3 player, it takes awhile. That may have to do with the type of usb drive, or my computer. Either way, don't expect lightning fast transfers. What I do is put maybe 10 chapters of an audiobook on the mp3-player at a time and go from there.
Which brings up another thing. This mp3 player doesn't have any sort of menu to tell you what song you're listening to. I knew that going in, and it does just fine for me. If you want to organize and listen to your music and know which song comes after the next, maybe save up for something better. If you don't care and can shuffle through your songs by ear without getting mad, then this thing will do. Also, you might get a little squeak when you switch between songs.
Overall: All in all, if you want this for something to listen to before bed, or to take with you running or something (it clips on to clothing), then this thing will do fine for what you need, as long as you understand it is a cheap mp3-player. It won't take a ton of damage (don't drop a heavy book on it), but for the price you are getting something that works. It doesn't feel high quality, but it's better than nothing. It might be something to get your kids who ravage things. If you lose it or drop it or break it, you won't have to cry. Understanding this, I give it a good rating unless later on I find that the lifespan is miserably low.
some of the other player offers of this type vary in price and color, as well as what peripherals come with it, this is the best one so far, but only comes in pink.
If you are looking for one as a birthday present for a younger child or an older adult, un-hem, this is a great buy.
