As for the flaws:
-Cable management: There is little thought to it here. The corner provides the only place to route cables, thus pigeonholing you into how you can et up your electronics (unless you don't have the desk flush with the walls).
-Set up: I'm a small guy and only had my equally small brother for help in setting the desk up. So this flaw would diminish as you get more/stronger people to help and have more space to work in. I couldn't help feeling that the pieces couldn't have been set up to be more modular. As things stand, you can't set up the corner module by itself. You need to connect it with the two ends (one of which can't stand on its own either). That limits how easily you can move the desk around and you'd need three people (two at the ends and one at the center) to move it comfortably. However, that's minor flaw if you intend to keep this desk in one spot. That same size an bulk feels like an asset when you're using it.
- A laptop
- A PlayStation 4
- A Mini PC Tower (an iBuyPower Revolt. It's still pretty big)
Those are the largest objects I have ontop. There are other items as well, and I still have plenty of room!
The build quality is excellent. I've been using this for about 3 years.
About a month ago the keyboard shelf broke. I was trying to find a replacement but it was really hard. Bestar kept trying to rip me off by selling the keyboard shelf at almost the same price of the entire workstation. & The prices would always fluctuate. I had to get me myself a different colored one for $50, that was selling at a discount from it's costly price tag.
Don't get ripped off!
The only issues I've had with the desk so far are how sharp some of the edges are for areas where you would reach to place things. Mainly the top shelf the monitors sit on. I've cut the top of my hands several times trying to place something inside the three little pockets. The bottom edge of the top piece of material are very sharp and not sanded. The other thing I dislike is not having a few openings in the back of those pocket shelves. I can drill holes in it potentially, but would be nice to have a nice plastic edged hole or something for additional electronic charging or cables.
Overall, good purchase, just watch out for those couple of issues.
I only downed it to 3 stars because of the annoyance of ripped instructions and parts that were not labeled. Otherwise, it's fine for what I need. Plenty of desk space. Couldn't put the monitor elevation on because the parts are not labeled, which isn't a huge loss. I don't really find it appealing.
They are just lucky I am decent with putting stuff together. I feel like an average Joe would have had a bigger problem. I have no idea how to put on the wooden slab for the left hand drawer because...well...parts weren't labeled.
Would I get this particular desk again? Meh. Debatable. I feel like I could have done better with something cheaper from another company. But, no turning back now.
Also it's originally from wayfair, so check the price there before you buy it on Amazon.
Updated review: I have since opted not to use the top part that raises the monitor, because i got a triple monitor under-desk pipe mount (akin to wall mounting them) and this is still the best desk ever made.
Great looking desk. One of the best ones I could even find.
Tons of space, I run multi-monitors and I still have space to decorate.
Feeling of accomplishment that you were able to put it together.
The thin line of your family going into an all out brawl trying to put it together.
Overall, it's fantastic.
