Elaine’s bravely written, thoughtful narrative will provide you with insight, wisdom and sound advice if you know someone with a debilitating disease. She will show you how you reach out to the family, and most importantly, how you can walk beside them with love, prayers, and support. I highly recommend this beautifully written story for anyone who has, or will have to experience cancer and loss. Sadly, that is most of us.
As a reader my emotions were all over the place. I don't know how anyone can read this book without coming away knowing that Bethany was one of God's beautiful children. Beautiful in so many ways. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I know where I will be spending eternity when I die. The hope we have of being in Heaven some day is very exciting.
To the author I just want to say, this is a remarkable book and for those who aren't believer's just perhaps something you've said or how Bethany lived her life will bring another soul into the Kingdom of God. Thank you for sharing Bethany's story with us!
Viewing the experience through the eyes of a caregiver, family and friends gain insights conducive to comforting and helping, rather than heaping more pain on top of mountains of grief. Caregivers can relate to the range of emotions and take courage in her family’s example of trusting their Savior through the darkest hour. I highly recommend Bethany’s Calendar for caregivers, friends and family, and anyone else who wants to understand the process of caring for someone on their final journey.
Personally, Elaine’s beautiful prose encouraged me in the midst of grieving the loss of my father. Though I wasn’t his caregiver, I still needed the reminders to forgive and to rely on God. Bethany’s Calendar is filled with scriptures to guide and comfort anyone experiencing pain from loss of a loved one.
