Tensions between the humans and the Qui are running at an all-time high: there's a traitor in the ranks, and no one knows who or where. The only known fact is that not only has the treaty been betrayed, but more importantly, so has the Empress herself. The only thing standing between Earth and salvation is the peace treaty and with such a display of disloyalty, humans have every right to be shaking in their knickers.
Earth's fate isn't the only thing hanging in the balance: Jaden's loyalty to the Qui is also in question. Always outspoken, Jaden is facing his own personal battle. He wants freedom, he wants to help and feel once again as someone with value, and yet he cannot deny his love for the very person responsible for his current state of unrest.
Stonor threw quite a number of surprises into this latest installment of the Qui Treaty series. The relationship between Jaden and Sonil has always been an interesting one -- having given up everything to be named as the Empress' tribute, his feelings toward his mate are both profound and truly genuine. Most surprising, though, was Oltu. The Qui I love to hate and yet, I've found I can no longer hate him. Having shown a very interesting and almost tender side during a moment with Jaden, I can't help but hope that he too will find his own human companion. Sure, he's a jerk, he's got some rather barbaric tendencies, but so does the rest of his race. They are aliens, after all.
Stonor also left some threads open in terms of other aliens and humans potentially finding a mate of the other race, and I sure hope that's explored in a future installment. There are several I'd like to see paired, especially a certain someone who doesn't fully understand the dynamics of why humans and Qui work so well together. It's all in the pheromones. Yes, I'm talking to you, Rooster!
Bottom line -- Betrayal by Treaty continues the super interesting storyline concerning the war between Earthlings and the aliens who decide their fate. Also thrown in the mix is plenty of smokin' hot sex between aliens and humans, including: male-on-male, a brief ménage, and a little bdsm thrown in for good measure. I recommend this for lovers of all of the above, but I wouldn't start here. Start at the beginning to get full comprehension of the continuous story arc, and with plenty of sexy-times to be had, you'll be glad you did.
**Many thanks to the author for providing a copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
When Sonil is taken by emergent threats on Earth, Jaden's loyalty and love is put to the test. His devotion places him in the one man hands he would rather not be in, but proving that Earth is not a traitor to the Qui people come before his own life.
Sonil's past comes back as the prince she once though was dead is indeed alive, and the time to fulfil those promises is here. The question is will she be strong enough, or has her love for the human gotten in the way. As her crown stands to be taken will the right moves be made.
This book was great, a ride throughout, more betrayal than Sonil wanted to be true, more fights, more danger and more threats to Earth and the Qui people with the Surashan threat looming large. More relationships coming to the front, interesting to see all the key players from previous books coming in and being part of this larger threat to Earth.
As always the sexual tension and completion is huge, with dominance a big part of it. I loved it and can't wait to get into what happens next.
I received an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.
Wowza!! The only thing I can say after reading Betrayal by Treaty is Trey Jaden is now a freakin' GOD!! Lol. Maybe not in the sense of having all divine powers but if one were to look just at the outside of things, it would look like Jaden is a GOD. Oh, how I loved this sequel to Under by Treaty!! The Qui Empress must choose between love or duty and the path is not always clear-cut. With war on the brink, a traitor in the midst, and a new alliance being formed to stop war, can Sonil protect Jaden as promised? I can't tell you the answers to that but I will say that Jaden goes above and beyond for Sonil, The Qui Empire, and his home planet, Earth. I, myself, found it enduring and selfless of him. Sonil made sacrifices, too. And it was BIG!! My point, these two belong together. The addition of the new characters played very well into the bigger picture, *ahem* Calad'n. :) Calad'n, too, is just as possessive of Sonil as Jaden is. Of course there's going to be some clashing with those two Alphas. Read to see what I mean. But there at the end...Oh my!! Yassss!! I'm finding myself somewhat jealous, lol. Two alphas fighting for your heart, willing to do anything for you, even die. And it doesn't hurt, only adds, that they're well endowed. The #Swoon factor comes highly into play. That crazy, everything hanging in limbo-ending...Grrr. I couldn't read fast enough. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that there'll be more stories after this one. I really, really hope so. After getting invested, I just need more!! The author has created a series and characters that you come to love and enjoy their company. There are dark moments and they can be scary too but overall, you see the light in each of these characters and you feel with them, you love with them, you hate with them, you want bloody revenge with them. It's not just them on a journey, it's you, the reader. And the author has done a mighty fine job of that. I honestly don't want it to end. This sequel will leave your panties wet and break your heart, at the same time, too!! Things may seem bleek but don't worry, you're heart will be mended and your panties still wet!! :)
