like "The Patriot." The female hero (Liv) is the kind of woman that wears both the NRA and Greenpeace stickers in her car, very independent, know how to shoot guns and even throw a punch. Her life is turned upside down after she observes a murder committed by the ultimate Black Market Guns & Drugs cartel.
Finn/Bubba Fish, a high-school acquaintance and now Iraq War Veteran, meets her after she defeats the first two assassins that try to murder her (there will be more), he's as interesting as his family. While the story does have some romance, it's not in a chick flick kind of fashion.
All the characters and their motivations were well-fleshed out, I didn't see any cheap stereotypes. Overall, it was a fast read and fun page turner. Great combination between witty dialogue and descriptive action scenes. This book could be a movie, except that Hollywood will never make a movie like this.
With that said, I don't think liberals will be turned off by this story, there's plenty of cursing, and no social conservative religiosity. Yes, these characters are pro-gun (they come from military families), but they're not Save Sex for Marriage types.
