I enjoyed this book as much as the first, and can't wait to see what happens in number 3! Miles is a very engaging narrator, and I became attached to the other protagonists as well. It is somewhat helpful to have read "Haunted" first, but not essential.

You'll lose your head for this book

I bought this book at my local bookseller and was excited to read it, but I made the mistake of cracking it open on the ride home. There went my evening! The story really sucked me in, and I devoured the book that night.

I have read the first book and enjoyed it, but the historical glimpses into the French revolution really stepped up the game for me in this one. The suspense was really well done, but I don't want to say too much and have an accidental spoiler!

Fascinatingly terrifying!

I enjoyed the first book of this series and read this second installment eagerly. The first book was super creepy, but this one drew me in with the mystery surrounding the prophecy--I really wanted to know how Phoebe, Miles, and Eleanor are all connected and so I read quickly, trying to hunt down all the clues. My favorite aspect of this novel, however, was the many details about Paris and Versailles during the French Revolution--fascinatingly terrifying stuff. I'm looking forward to learning how the third installment will bring everything together!

Excellent settings and great characters

After reviewing the first book in this series, I wanted to read the second book. I wasn’t dissapointed. This was a creepy ghost mystery, along with time travel, excellent settings (like Versailles!) and great characters. The author did a good job on the French history. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

After reading the first book in this series, Haunted, I couldn't wait to see what Lynn Carthage did next. Luscious descriptions of Versailles, the ominous threat of ancient evil, and an unusual and swoon-worthy budding romance make Betrayed every bit as satisfying as the first book of the Arnaud Legacy. All of the relationships are multi-layered and intriguing, and the special connection between sisters Phoebe and Tabby is especially charming. Looking forward to Avenged next year!

The Series Stays Real(ly Interesting)

I'm a big fan of the Arnaud series. Lynn Carthage writes with both historical authority (she's a terrific researcher) and killer storytelling chops. I loved Haunted, Book One, and was thrilled when Betrayed (Book Two) continued the series' heartfelt account of Phoebe's life while keeping things fresh. Can't wait for Book Three, Lynn!

Fast, Multi-Layered

A fast, multi-layered read with many twists and turns. It continues themes in Haunted, yet contains inviting artifacts relating to French historical periods and the places associated with events. Another solid novel from Lynn Carthage. I enjoyed it very much!
