Betrayed by Blood is engaging from the start. Full of action and mystery, the reader will become fully immersed in the world created by Tiffany Shand. The author does a fantastic job weaving the books full of twists and turns. I enjoyed the characters and world building that takes place throughout the novella. The character interactions are realistic, allowing the reader to connect with them on some level. The magical abilities that each of the friends possess are unique and explained well. The author did a remarkable job writing a story filled with action, adventure, romance, suspense, treachery, and more.
This book ends on a cliffhanger so make sure you have book 2 handy.
I voluntarily reviewed an uncorrected ARC of The Amaranthine Chronicles.
While reading this book and the series the thought crossed my mind that this could be turned into a great Manga anime. There is plenty of action, angst, betrayal and friendship woven throughout this plot. I loved that are shape-shifters, evil henchwomen, and sorcery but the draw back for me was that there is not enough fleshing out of characters or deep world development. There were elements in this story that absolutely grabbed my interest such as teleportation, shape-shifting, and the ability to fly. Loved all of that! There is definitely a good versus evil vibe going on in this story.
What I felt was slightly off for me was the emotions between Kaylan and Elijah. The words were there between them but I did not feel the connection. The emotional element in this story between all characters just felt a bit flat. I wanted to have that emotional pull that would really have me cheering for the characters of this book. It was an enjoyable story and will keep your interest from start to finish.
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Tiffany Shand. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
