About the Author
Nicky Charles is an independent writer/publisher who became an author quite by accident. For many years she wrote as a hobby, seeing herself a 'reader not a writer'. Now a full-time author, she thanks-or blames, depending on the day-her friend/editor and fellow author, Jan Gordon, for the career she now finds herself immersed in. When she writes, Nicky sees the story unfolding in her head like a movie and tries to include enough detail so readers can 'see' the story just as she does. The sights, sounds, smells and sensations of a scene are almost as important to her as the actual plot. Nicky lives in Canada and tries to stick to Canadian spelling and punctuation in her work. She is an avid supporter of animal shelters, nature conservancy, food banks and a variety of other charities. Currently, she has three 'official' cats though a number of strays seem to take up residence in her garden each year. When not writing, Nicky enjoys reading - though she often bemoans that she seldom has time for it any more. She also enjoys spending time in nature, gardening, taking day trips and eating dark chocolate. ** Thank you for sharing your work, and looking forward to reading Lycan book 6.
It's a little hard to figure out where to read which book in the series. Having previously read 'Bonded,' which is a prequel for the series and ended with a big question mark hanging over the side character of Damien, I decided to read this one next, even though technically I think it's supposed to come after the second book, 'The Keeping.' This turned out to be a wise choice, I think. There wasn't a bunch of spoilery-stuff regarding book one and two, mostly this one stands alone. While it does continue Damien's story, it's not just a book about him but a story about Eve and Rafe as well. Though Damien does figure prominently into the tale.
I enjoyed this book very much! It seemed to be more on the action side than the previous one, 'Bonded.' The characters were well-formed and engaging. There was also a lot of mystery and misdirection going on here that kept me guessing until the end. I'm greatly enjoying this series and hope that there will be more in future books about Damien, a rather complex individual.
Rafe is a Lycan who must keep his werewolf ability a secret. He is also a psychiatrist to the rogues of the Lycan world and is determined to help Damien as long as Eve stays safe. Eve is a part Fae who is being hunted by more than one person, but who are they? The reader never really knows who Damien is working for. Himself, Lycan Link, the assissins. As the story unfolds we see Rafe and Eve find true love despite the obstacles in their way. We see Damien finally realize his wife would not want him living his life this way and always seeking revenge. Damien finds himself once again adrift looking for purpose to his life.
This is a great, emotionally charged novel with plenty of surprises. While it can stand alone I can't recommend the series enough. Oh yeah and most of the books are free.
Female Heroine made me want to puke, roll my eyes, and say "Whatever" when she couldn't put two and two together, after already considering the possibility concerning Rafe and Damien, just two minutes prior. Now that was just stupidness!!! It actually made me almost throw my kindle, but I cant be throwing money like that.
I LOVE Nicky Charles. She's so stinking awesome!
