But my enjoyment was ruined by the hatred the author obviously has for a certain element of our society. (The other segments of society that would take advantage of her plot scenario are totally ignored so she can write (literally) pages about this specific group she has targeted. ) The author portrayed a GOP party that is populated by Southerners, all males, and secretly led by the Russians and allowing for the plot contrivances of parallel universes, this is the basis for the villains in this story; and it is a clever twist on todays headlines. But my enjoyment of the book, the excellent characters and great world-building, was destroyed by the thinly disguised hatred scattered throughout this book.
** ( I am a lesbian, born and raised in Texas, but I am also a daughter, sister, niece etc. and friend to many males. And none could/would realistically fit this authors view of the world — FICTIONAL or not. So I guess her vitriolic words, pages & pages of them ruined my appreciation of this book... from 5 stars to 2 stars, 1 Star actually but an extra star given for the other parts of the book. )
