I asked for this music book for my 17th birthday because I LOVE the Betsy-Tacy series and always wondered how the songs the sang sounded. Well, I got it for my birthday and I absolutely love it! The music book is divided in sections- it goes book by book. All the music is so great! It's spiral bound so it lays flat on the piano, the paper quality is really nice, and I just love love LOVE it! Thank you so much for making such a wonderful product for us Betsy-Tacy fans out there!
Compiled and thoroughly researched by editors, K. Baxter, B. Carter, and J. Marshall, the sheet music with their original covers are highlighted by the original Lenski/Neville illustrations and a very informative text. Here is all you ever wanted to know about the beloved Irish tenor, Chauncey Olcott and his music. All the selected sheet music is identified as it first appears in a particular Betsy-Tacy or Deep Valley book. Included are 34 photos of first edition sheet music front covers. The graphics and sumptuous images on these covers alone make this unique publication so well worth owning. The wide (Betsy) green spiral that binds the Songbook's 212 pages together allows the book to lay flat, a real plus for those who will actually prop up the Songbook on the piano or music stand and reminisce while playing the tunes for the Cat Duet, Dreaming, In The Good Old Summertime, My Wild Irish Rose, In My Merry Oldsmobile, Morning Cy, Moonlight Bay, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, Meet Me Tonight In Dreamland, Peg 'O My Heart, By The Beautiful Sea, There's a Long, Long Trail A-Winding, and additional 28 Lovelace era favorites from the series.
The front and rear covers of the Betsy-Tacy Songbook are perfection. Pictured on the front cover is the Vera Neville illustration of the "crowd" gathered around the Ray's piano in the front parlor highlighted by floating color photos in miniature of several sheet music covers. The rear of the Songbook reproduces in color 34 music covers as well, an index to the delightful treasures you will find inside. I'm looking forward to additional volumes of Songbooks showcasing more music from the Lovelace books we love so much. Highly recommended!
It's perfect for any Betsy Tacy fan. It is also a wonderful addition to a homeschooling library, esp. if you include lots of music in your curriculum. Anyone who works with Senior Citizen Music Programs will also find lots of uses for the songs.
