This is a wonderful invention and our dog loves it. Unfortunately he loves it a little too much and will wear himself slap out licking and licking - and to our dismay, he was sneaking right under our noses and eating the red plastic around it to get better traction on the treat. That was unexpected because it appears to be pretty hard plastic. Just keep an eye on your pup until you know what he'll do - I wouldn't recommend leaving your dog alone with this, especially if he figures out how to eat the plastic - it can't be good for him.

I was very leery of dropping $20 on a dog toy, but figured that if it did what it said, it would be worth the price + the refills. We gave it to our dog(85 lb American Bulldog mix) yesterday. She was disinterested for the first 5 minutes (it doesn't seem to smell that good), but eventually figured out that it was edible.

I came back not 10 minutes later and she had popped the side off the toy and was just chewing on the center. We managed to put it back together and gave it back to her. The next time I looked at it the center was nowhere to be seen, I assume she just chewed it off.

Fun in concept, but not good for strong chewers.

We bought this thing for my Great Dane Sadie, and she seemed to like it. An hour later, she was violently ill, vomiting all over the place with this horrible smelling yellow mess, Smelled the toy, it was that smell amplified. She's been miserable sick since, and I am terrified of what in this could possibly have poisoned her the way it has. Not fit for consumption of animals. I just pray I don't loose my dog because of this toy. Don't do this to your pet.

I also called the company, and no one was there to answer. Don't know what to do now.

There are much better product out there, for similar prices that are much better. I purchased one of these and a pack of refills thinking that I finally found something to occupy 2 of my 3 dogs (the third is not a chewer). Boy was I wrong! The packaging says it will keep your dog entertained for up to 2 hrs...and they should add "only if your dog is dumb." I gave this to my husky mix, 100% put together correctly and within the first 10 minutes he had it apart and was chewing up the center piece all by itself. I figured it was a random chance, put a new refill piece on it and put it back together and made sure it was tight...then gave it to my pit bull. Less than 5 min later he's standing at the dog gate looking at me with the thing taken apart and the center section eaten. Total waste of my money...although the dogs did seem to enjoy it for the few minutes it lasted. "Gnawin' Forever" is a terrible name for this product...if your dog(s) are the slightest bit clever or intelligent (and not 5 lbs) they will have it apart and finished in just minutes.

Concept is great and my chocolate lab pup loved it. Within two hours, he was able to chew the plastic and has been vomitting it up and pooping it out ever since (2 days). Bad enough to spend $20 bucks on something now thrown away, but to cause health issues is alarming. Do not buy this product!!!

My dog loves these Gnawin Forever chew toys. Walmart use to carry them but they were discontinued. The refills sometimes do not fit and they are at times not in stock. He spends hour chewing on this item.

I have a black lab who is a vigorous chewer. This looked like it would be a great idea. Although the concept seemed good, she was able to have it apart and chewed up the ends in 10 minutes. Probably not good for vigorous chewers or "smart" dogs that can figure out how things come apart.

My Border Collie was able to get the treat out very quickly and ate the whole thing before I realized what had happened. Now I can't even open up the toy to put a refill in if I wanted to. Waste of money...
