And while some people may feel the need to criticize Alice for doing what she thought was the right thing to do 14 yrs ago, let me just say this: When you love someone---- and I mean REALLY love someone--- you will always put their wants, needs, and dreams above your own. It doen't mean what she did was right, but she was doing what she felt was the right thing to do at the time, and she did it out of the deep love she had for Johnny. No one can fault a person for that. And look; would Johnny have been content to give up the only thing that really mattered in his life at that time, to raise a family that he couldn't even afford? Would he have ended up resenting her if he did give up his life-long dream? Most likely. So therefore; IMHO- I think she did the right thing. Johnny would have never been able to have the chance to live his life-long dream, had she not done what she did. He would have always wondered in the back of his mind, if he had ever good enough to suceed. At least now he knows that he did indeed, have what it took to make it in the big leagues. And I also believe that they will have a much better chance at making things work out between them, since they are more mature.
I absolutely loved Alice's in-laws. They were so understanding, and I believe they truly loved both Alice and her son, whether they were blood relatives or not.. That makes them all the more special in my book.
After reading this book, I can't wait to read the rest.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily offering my honest review.
I found the characters annoying in their quickness to throw in the towel and walk away at the first sign of difficulty. This doesn't bode well for long term or setting an example. Also the "mistake" they struggled to come to terms with 14 years after the fact and they repeat it?
