My granddaughter introduced this little book to me. I have it on my kindle and keep the hard copy book in my car to take into the store when I shop. Informative, educative, sad with wisdom attached. We can make decisions to spend and vote with our dollars wisely.

This book addresses questions all global residents need to ask, like "how does this purchase affect my neighbors?" In the U.S. A., there are very few goods available which were produced through ecologically and socially responsible means. This book leads the reader to ask questions about unnecessary excess at the store and provides a ranked suggestion of companies to support through spending.

Bought this after the peak of its usefulness. The research used to make this guide is pretty out-dated by this point. Most of the companies that were in the lower ranks have changed their policies to fit the sustainability revolution that's happening. It's a good little guide with a nice setup but it needs to be updated with new research because it's useless right now.

Great book if you want information on how to spend your money with a conscience. The ratings system is easy to understand and explained well. Great layout. Nice portable size. I highly recommend this book to anyone who cares about what corporations do in terms of employee treatment and care for the planet.

I am very pleased with this book. I received the first version as a gift 6 years ago and this updated version is just as informative as the first. The best part of these books, in my opinion, is that they boil a lot of research down into a very accessible little guide book for people who want to support environmentally responsible companies with their dollars, and just as importantly, want to not support environmentally irresponsible companies. Capitalism in action. The sections titled "The 10 Biggest Success Stories" and "The 10 Biggest Disappointments," which list the companies that have made the most strides forward or backward since the first version of the book, have been particularly helpful.

The Better World Shopping Guide is a handy pocket or purse-size book that makes it easier to choose products from environmentally friendly companies. I gave it four stars because there are several products the book does not cover. Still, it is a quick reference for most trips to the grocery. I like the premise that each dollar we spend is a vote for the types of companies we wish to support. If we could all make an effort to purchase from companies ranked A and B, we could make a big impact on our environment and on the lives of those working for those companies.

This 2012 edition of the Better World Shopping Guide is excellent. Every American should buy this book. The sad thing is that it indicates that many well known businesses have gone down in their grades, such as to an F. I will not go to F stores or buy F products even if It is a store or product I have used in the past. Joan

I'm trying top shop more conscientiously these days and this Better World Shopping Guide really helps
when I'm trying to decide which products to purchase! It rates products from numerous categories based on
the company's economic and ecological responsibility. It is helping me to weed out companies who put the 'almighty
buck' before contributing to a safer planet! I also like that they include a list of the top 10 Best Companies and the top 10 Worst companies! I do wish it had a more extensive list of companies...but then it would no
longer be 'pocket-sized!
