Top customer reviews
Center of the Plate - recipes showcase meat as the main star
Savory Skillet Meals - simple, tasty and satisfying
Casseroles and Pot Pies - comfort food... yummy
Meatless Main Dishes - great to use to stretch your budget
Sandwiches, salads and pizzas - easy and quick to make for nights or lunches when time is short
Soups, stews and chilies - one of the best things about cold weather - cooking soup
Slow cooker suppers - I put this in in the morning or at lunch, great to come home to a healthy cooked meal
Grilling good and easy - I have always stayed away from the grill, but, I think I can do these
30 minutes or less - great time saver
Cooking for two - The section is great! I always struggle on what to cook for my husband when our son isn't home that doesn't waste food or require us to eat the same leftovers for the next 3 meals.
The other thing that I really like in this book is that the calorie counts for each recipe is listed in large print at the top of the page so if you are looking for a 30 min or less recipe and you have had several calories for the day, you can easily flip the pages to find recipes that are low in calories such as the Easy Chicken Pot Pie - 190 calories; serves 3. Or Veal with Asparagus - 120 calories; serves 4. Another Pro is that there is a wide variety of calorie recipes from low calorie to 300 calories. Also I like that they give you very specific measurements needed, and they list Calories, Calories from fat, total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, total cars, dietary fiber, sugars, protein, % Daily Value of vit and minerals in the recipe, Exchanges and Carbohydrate Choices.
I really only have a couple of con's, this is why I only gave it 4 stars.
There are not very many pictures - this is a personal preference for me. I have found that on a low calorie diet, I have become a much more visual eater.
The other thing that I have noticed is there are some (not many) recipes that list the servings up to 12 and the calorie count as between 250 and 300 but, the meat at these high servings only allow each person to have around 4 oz (calculated at raw) after cooking it seems like it is a little on the small side. But once again, this is a personal preference since my family are meat eaters.
Overall, I am very pleased with this cookbook and I would recommend it to my friends. This one will be a keeper!
