I am not as thrilled with this book as I was as the other 2 I read by this author but it is far above a lot of the other books I have tried to read in this genre.
The biggest problem in the marriage was lack of communication. I thought throughout most of the book that the characters were about 8 years younger than the age they were being depicted because of the way they acted and the secrets they had kept.
I think I've a s wonderful of Ian to want to surprise his wife but that is the kind of financial decision that both partners should make no matter how much money they have.
Over the years of our marriage my husband and I together have amassed a nice nest egg and we pretty much buy what we want but major purchases are decided on together. Even at this stag of our life $3k is a major purchase.
This is a really fast read, 1st book from the Windham series, dealing with the lives of Ian and Carrie. They've been married for 8 years but it's clear they are both struggling with marital issues and neither seems to be able to trust their feelings with the other. The hopes and dreams changed drastically by one event are pushed aside and not shared to the point where 2 kids later every day life takes over and pain and frustration can no longer be ignored if they have any hope of saving this marriage.
I could not put this book down! Each in the series deals with family or friends in this small farming community and can be read separately but I promise you will want them all. Highly recommend this author, this series, this book!
Ian and Carrie have been married for 8 years and have 2 children. They married young and quickly after Carrie found out she was pregnant after a month of dating. They've had to work hard and life is busy for this farmer and his stay-at-home baker wife. They've been a bit disconnected lately and Carrie has some fears about the state of their marriage as well as Ian's feelings for her that stem from how they originally got together. Ian adores his wife, but life being what it is for them - busy, gets in the way sometimes. This story is a sweet and sexy small town love story about how a man who loves his wife 'to the moon and back' goes about showing her, and how a wife is reassured by her husband's gestures of love, both sexy and grand.
A great start to what promises to be a sweet and sexy small town romance series. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
Ian and Carrie have kids, a house, and all that. Ian is working two jobs, and juggling home and work and all that. But recently, it seems he can't get close to his wife... // Carrie married Ian eight years ago because they got a bit careless and she got pregnant. Carrie knew she's missing something, but it obviously wasn't being a wife or having kids... She's done that. So what was it? And how does she figure it out with Ian, if they are no longer speaking?
There certainly was a lot of emotions and feelings that came through with their fighting. As the cliche goes, if you don't care, you wouldn't fight. Obviously, they do figure it out at the end, but that's how it works.
I enjoyed the storyline about two people who realize that maybe they have started to take each other for granted. They know they need to communicate more; they have problems not huge ones, but ones that they have to work one if things are going to change.
Carrie and Ian are both likable characters. Carrie is sweet great mother and wife; she just needs to be honest with Ian, about her feeling and what she really wants. Ian was hardworking, and can see that Carrie is not happy and does what he can to change this; she is the love of his life. I like that they both wanted to work on their marriage.
“Carrie Nixon, You are loved for being you…you are wanted, and needed for being you”
Overall I enjoyed Between Then and Now, it was a touching short very sexy novellathat was low on the drama and angst. Showing the struggles that married couple face. Having read and enjoyed the first book in the series What Once Was Perfect, I was glad that this one didn’t disappoint. I like Zoe’s writing style and I felt the story flowed well. I’m looking forward to reading about more of the secondary characters in future books from Wardham series.

Ian wants back the sizzling connection they had when they first met, but Carrie never believed that he married her for anything other than feeling obligated. Can they work through their differences and carry on together.
A brilliant introduction to this series and I can’t wait to read on. I have read other books by this author and as with the rest, this was really well written and you can’t help falling in love with her characters.
This is short, fun, full of love and a good prequel to the other books in the series.
