This was a book I hated to put down. It kept me turning the pages and I was sad then I reached the end. I can't wait for Joanna's next book to come out.
Meanwhile, grief also plays its part for all concerned after the death of the grandam of the family. But life goes on, and for some it seems there is nothing more important than signing new talent and arranging tours and gigs. As stress and strain takes its toll on others, a manipulative malicious minded Diva has her sights set on the big boss man and resorts to foul means to win him over. But unrequited love and inevitable revenge prove bittersweet, when the death of another young woman seals the diva's fate as that of a dark end. Between Today and Yesterday is a romping good read.
Set in Bath, it features wealth, fame, and all the trappings--good and bad--that go with it. Not only material trappings but attitudes and expectations that sometimes go with a privileged lifestyle. Ella lives in a large country home belonging to her wealthy grandmother with her husband, Matt, precocious daughter, Lucy, and her brother, Nick, and his family. Matt is a successful record producer with a promising new band to promote. An ex-lover comes back into his life poised to destroy his happy marriage to Ella, the new band's future, and just about anything that stands in her way of trying to ensnare the man she let slip away 20 years previously. Precocious daughter Lucy learns the hard way that money isn't necessarily the ticket to happiness. And Ella, poor Ella, has to cope with death, a marriage about to hit a potentially disastrous rock, establishing a new business, and watching her brother, a frustrated school-teacher, head hopelessly towards a mental breakdown.
The cast of this book is wide and varied. It's hard to say who are the main characters because, as far as I'm concerned, a number vie for the lead roles. And this is one of the things I liked about this book. There are a good many characters who were strong, defined, and interesting; Marcie, the disillusioned ex-lover, is as scheming and immoral as Ella is kind, patient, and forgiving. The characters' lives, past and present, are cleverly interwoven, and the result is a compelling, well-written, and easy-to-read novel. This certainly won't be my only outing with this author.
When international star, and diva Marcie Maguire, contacts Matt after they have not seen each other for twenty years. Matt drops everything, much to Ella's annoyance to help Marcie out on her tour. Unknown to Matt, Marcie has much more in mind for Matt and she is prepared to plan, plot, scheme and manipulate to get what she wants from Matt even if it will cost him his marriage to Ella. But at what price will it cost Marcie?
I really was looking forward to reading this book by Joanna Lambert and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed meeting and reading about the characters from The Blue Eyes Trilogy. The characters are now older, but the book does still follow on from the trilogy. The book does have many characters, all are interesting and the storyline is compelling and packed with drama. The story is set in England and Spain creating a nice setting to accompany the story. Joanna Lambert books just get better and better this is a remarkable read.
Ella Benedict leads a life that is envied by many. Married to ex-rock star turned producer, Matt Benedict, a fantastic career, a beautiful daughter, Lucy, and a beautiful home. When the family matriarch passes away, the family seems to fall apart.
Joanna Lambert weaves an intricate story with twists and turns that keep the reader guessing. Ella has to deal with a variety of emotions during this story which the everyday person can relate to. This is a wonderful story. I recommend this book to those who enjoy a heartwarming tale.
