The industrial design is top-notch. The body is a unibody aluminum shell that feels durable without being too heavy. The flat cable isn't so thin that it feels flimsy, but still helps to prevent tangles and acts as a safety feature, distributing pressure evenly if it gets pinched between two surfaces. The safety disconnect just before the y-split is convenient because I use a long cable with these at my computer (not stock) and bring the stock cable with me when I leave the house. Even the 3.5mm plug on the stock cable is clever-- The 45 degree angle helps greatly with strain relief, moreso than a straight plug or right angle plug.
The IEMs come with 7 interchangeable eartips, so it's likely one of them will fit you well. Still, I ended up using sennheiser eartips because they fit me best.
I noticed no difference after 40 hours of burn-in. Pretty typical of dynamic drivers like these. Driver flex is a slight issue if you have a really good seal. Sound isolation is excellent, I'd guess about -20 to -30db attenuation. Microphonics (aka cable noise) are present but if you use the included clip, it's easy to eliminate cable sway.
Bass register is very tight, good response down to about 14-16 hz from my testing. It isn't too punchy, and heavy bass doesn't hide vocals or mids in general, but comes through very strongly, layered well.
Mids are fairly good for budget IEMs. Male vocals are very smooth (maybe a bit too smooth), female vocals are pleasant and crystal clear. I ended up using a very subtle midpass EQ to improve vocal delivery and the resulting quality is very similar to the beyerdynamic DX 160, which costs $35 more.
Highs are ethereal. Slightly centered around 10khz, probably related to the stiffness of the body. They really make percussion shine. You can hear absolutely ever facet of a Buddy Rich solo.
The soundstage is just outside the ear canal. Not too wide, not too narrow. Very holographic.
I apparently have large ear canals... so not sure if this applies to everyone, but these on their largest pad actually fit and hold far better than others. The shape initially scared me for how big and boxy they seem, but hides away well enough and actually more comfortable because they're substantial enough to hold when I adjust their position.
Another huge plus for me that probably doesn't apply to the largest segment of the population, but I use these pretty hard in a slow way, because I often sleep with earbuds in; of course I shouldn't, but insomniacs cling to whatever works. While you still wouldn't want to put your head down directly on the earbud, these are comfortable at any other angle and stay in when I roll over. Likewise, I've ruined many other nice sets of earbuds just by crimping the cord under me in my sleep, but this cord actually lasted a year, and even then I only had to replace the extension piece. Even tougher would of course be better, but I actually thought that was pretty good.
The flat cord really is tough to tangle, and most importantly easy to untangle, which is awesome. Yes it's much longer than I normally need, but since tangles aren't a problem I don't mind wadding up excess.
My only con is when there are particularly loud, high-pitched noises in the external environment. Generally, these blocks a lot of external sounds just with the pads. They aren't isolating by any stretch, but plenty so you don't have to blast your eardrums to hear them. However, somehow loud, high-pitched noises seem to be amplified somehow by the shape of the pad. Sirens seem a louder when these are in; airplane announcements are piercing! Actually I guess both of those could be seen as a plus for safety, but pretty jarring in the moment.
Overall though, way better sound quality than a lot of others in this price range, awesomely untangle-able cord, and for my purposes, the most comfortable and secure earbuds I've ever had.
