This book hepled me in ways I can't quite describe well enough. I read it after my dad passed away, and it was, and still is, a life altering collection of moving passages. I used two short poems at the memorial service, and so many people were touched by the words that I felt this book would well serve anyone who is in any way grieving. It's messages also have an effect on those individuals who are simply searching for comfort and an understanding of one's own mortality.

As a bereavement counselor working with groups of people, often it takes just the right quickly read but meaningfully substantial piece to engage others in the story-telling that makes grieving together so powerful. This collection is indeed a treasury of widely representative thoughts on loss, grief, death and life--something nourishing and challenging for all deeply held beliefs about our deepest humanity.
