I will, however, comment on Amazon's Gift Set for the film.
This is, I believe, the third Gift Set that I've gotten of the JJ Trek films from Amazon. If I'm not mistaken, all three were Amazon Exclusives. The 2009 reboot film came with the saucer of the Enterprise as the actual spot for the disc, and it's a nice model of the ship. The "Into Darkness" set came with a very nice replica of a phaser. This set comes with a replica of the USS Franklin from the film.
I've really enjoyed all three of these gift sets, however, this one left me a little disappointed in the value aspect. While the model of the Franklin looks very nice, and is well detailed...it's the size that's a bit of a letdown. For the price of the gift set I was expecting something just a little bit larger than this. I feel like this package would be a much better value at a $10 price reduction...so if you can find it on a Daily Deal or something it's going to get you a lot more bang for your buck.
As I said, the model itself is really nice looking. It's got a cool magnet that actually mounts it to the stand, so if you wanted to give it to a child to use as a toy you would be able to and it would retain a very nice look.
The rest of the Gift Set is solid...you get a 4k Ultra HD disc, the Blu-Ray disc, and the requisite Digital HD copy. It's basically just a standard disc case along with the Franklin model inside a larger box. Nothing really special, but nothing bad about the package either.
Overall, the Franklin is a very cool piece to have in my media room on my shelves, I just wish it were a bit bigger.
The packaging is great and includes all 4 formats of the movie - 4k, 3D, Blu-ray, and Digital which was a pleasant surprise as I am forced to choose between 3D and 4k with most new releases. As my TV does both it is always a toss up.
The model ship is nice sized about 4" long and nicely detailed. The ship comes with a stand which was a nice touch. Having gotten the first Star Trek (reboot) gift set with the awesome looking hand phase this gift set did not disappoint.
For the $50 I found the set well worth the $20 premium over the 3D version. The model itself would run $15-20 in store and to get the 4K version it'd cost $30 and leave the purchaser with an extra Blu-ray and digital copy.
Personally I am a fan on this film and see it the best of the three made by Bad Robot. It looks amazing in 3D and the recent investment in an LG OLED provides great content for that TV.
If I could critique it slightly, the 3D disc comes in a paper sleeve within the set - it would be nice if the casing had space for 3 discs.
