Editorial Reviews

Product Description

After two years in the studio, Tampa-based 39 Stripes is releasing its newest CD entitled Beyond Broken. The band returns with a bigger sound and the addition of new lead vocalist Mike Wilson (a former American Idol contestant). Produced by Steve Henderlong and released by Hollar Records, 39 Stripes absolutely knocks this one out of the park with a faith-filled recording showcasing a monstrous sound, solid songwriting and the band at its absolute best. The video for the title track Beyond Broken is in rotation at many of the top video outlets and the first single Mustard Seed is blazing at radio. 39 Stripes is coming to a town near you, so step up to the plate and get your lashing.

Review

The Tampa Florida-based rockers almost called it quits at the peak of a tumultuous two-year period punctuated by the death of loved ones, misguided business dealings and lighter-than-anticipated record sales. After grinding it out, the DIY rock outfit surfaced with their first full-length project in October 2010 to a consensus that it was well worth the wait. Beyond Broken is full of post-grunge sound in all its glory, paying homage to a gamut of 90s and 2000's rock influences from Tonic to Daughtry to Our Lady Peace. Their tale is told not only by Mike Wilson's vocals but by the challenging guitar artistry of producer and lead guitarist Steve Henderlong. Saving a Place honors Henderlong's grandfather while My Desire is a straightforward AC praise anthem. It's the title track, though, that sums up the band's slow rise when Wilson belts out that Sometimes we have to break/to see how the pieces fit perfectly. It's that resilience that led to this impressive debut and a welcome sound to fans of rock everywhere. --NewReleaseTuesday.com
